About Us

Mathew Ptak-Zylka – Adv Dip Myotherapy,Dip Remedial Massage

Mathew Ptak-Zylka is a founder of MA Health Connection and Absolute Health Connection.

Mathew graduated from Q-Academy of Massage Therapy and has been practicing as a Remedial and Sports Massage Therapist since 2012 and more recently since 2014 as a Myotherapist.

Since graduating Mathew has continued to broaden his knowledge and education through ongoing post-graduate studies. These included: Post-Graduate Advanced Diploma in Myotherapy, Reflexology, Dry-needling and advanced TRP techniques. He is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Podiatry.

Mathew is passionate and caring and strives to provide best possible care to his clients.

Mathew’s special interests include: pain management, postural correction, balancing the muscular system to allow better movement, performance and injury recovery and prevention. Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, Myofascial Dry Needling.

Anna Ptak-Zylka BNursing (Hon), GradDip (OR), BAppHsc (Oral Health)– RN, OHT(Oral Health Therapist/Dental Hygienist/Orofacial Myologist)
In 1995, Anna graduated with Honours from Bachelor of Nursing and was awarded a Postgraduate scholarship in Peri-operative Nursing. In 1997, Anna specialised in Dental Anaesthesia which enabled her to assist specialists in various complex dental procedures for patients under sedation and GA.

Anna pursued her interest in dentistry to Graduate from The University of Queensland in 2004 with a Degree in Oral Health with various academic awards. She has undertaken further studies in Orofacial Myology and is currently undertaking Masters in Complementary Medicine.

Since graduating from Oral Health, Anna has been employed as an Oral Health Therapist in various dental settings. She has experience in General Dentistry, Periodontics, has been involved in teaching at the University of Queensland, has practiced Orofacial Myology (habit cessation ie thumb sucking) and for over 10 years has been involved in prevention and treatment of gum disease in a two prominent Gold Coast specialist clinics.

Anna loves helping people achieve an ultimate health and wellbeing. She believes that the knowledge and skills she acquired through her ongoing education and experience have helped her develop a professional and enthusiastic approach to patient care.

Sports Massage

Sports Massage – used before, during and after sports event to maintain good tissue health in order to prevent injury and increase athletic performance. as well as to rehabilitate from a new or old injury. Sports Massage Therapy can have great benefits in the life of any active individual, whether you are training for an event or simply enjoy a game of football with your friends.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy- used to specifically target painful or hyper-irritable points in muscular tissue, which most commonly occur in the neck and shoulder regions especially as a result of bad posture or heavy training. The points are most common in long-term computer users. Untreated trigger points can develop into more serious conditions, such as compartment syndrome. Trigger Point Therapy is often used with combination of other massage techniques.
 
Remedial Massage

Remedial Massage – used for treating soft tissue injuries from work, daily activities, lifestyle habits and sport. The massage treatment is based on initial assessment and formulated individualised treatment plan that is focused on identified problem area.  You can claim Remedial Massage can be claimed on most private health funds.

Deep Tissue

Deep Tissue – most common therapy requested, in this technique the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain. Your therapist may use elbows or forearms in order to thoroughly work the areas of concern. These areas are worked until the pain is released, leaving you with a feeling of instant relief. All our deep tissue massages are completed with a few relaxation techniques to help ease the nervous system, and induce a state of relaxation.

Myofacial Release

Myofacial Release – used to stretch out tight connective tissue covering muscles, in order to increase mobility and decrease pain. This technique helps to restore proper posture, alignment, and can even help mobilize scar tissue from surgery or injury.
