Relief of Sciatic Pain Sciatica nerve pain results from irritation of the sciatic nerve. It is typically felt from the lower back, down below the knee. The sciatic nerve begins in the lumbar spinal cord in the lower back and extends through the buttock area to send nerve endings down the leg. Commonly caused by a lumbar disc herniation directly pressing on the nerve, can also arise from irritation or inflammation of the sciatic nerve. Aside from a pinched nerve, irritation of the nerve from adjacent bone, tumours, muscle, internal bleeding, infections, injury are other causes, including irritation of the sciatic nerve during pregnancy.
Cupping Therapy is an ancient Chinese treatment for preventing and treating diseases but is applied across Europe and the Mediterranean as well. It uses a cup to create a vacuum, either by burning or suction. It is another effective form of releasing blockages at specific meridian points throughout the body.Cupping can affect the body deep into the tissue, causing it to release toxins, activate the lymphatic system, clear colon blockages, activate and clear the veins, arteries and capillaries and activate the skin. It can assist to clear stretch marks and also improve the appearance of varicose veins.
Effective cupping will leave marks on your skin for a couple of days, but these will disappear quickly. Although these may have the appearance of a bruise, they are not painful and indicate that there is a deep-seated issue.
Reflexology is a form of massage in which pressure is applied to certain parts of the feet and hands in order to promote relaxation and healing elsewhere in the body. It is based on the belief that there are a series of meridian lines throughout the body which pass through the various organs of the body and are connected through the nervous system to the ears, hands and feet. Stimulating specific reflex points in the feet aims to bring relief to poorly functioning areas of the body.
Headaches come in many forms and with varying degrees of discomfort. Many can be traced back to muscle tension from neck, shoulders through to the top of the head and even to eye strain. Massage can relieve this tension and get the circulation moving freely throughout the scalp and often brings instant relief. Migraines can be helped, but may require more serious medical attention.
One of the most dangerous side effects of diabetes is the reduced circulation to the feet and extremities. In the worst case scenario this can even lead to gangrene and amputation. Foot massage can alleviate these sypmtoms and aid in increased circulation throughout the feet and lower limbs and added stimulation to the nervous system.
A ‘frozen shoulder’ usually means a lose of significant movement in each direction, both when the patient tries to move or when the therapist attempts to rotate the joint. Frozen shoulder indicates inflammation and can reflect scarring, thickening, and shrinkage of the socket around the shoulder joint. Any injury to the shoulder can lead to a frozen shoulder. However, ‘frozen shoulders’ occur more frequently in patients with such risk factors as diabetes, chronic inflammatory arthritis of the shoulder, or after chest or breast surgery. The long-term lack of use of a shoulder joint can also lead to a ‘frozen shoulder’.
Massage aims to encourage relaxation and increase rotation of the muscles surrounding the shoulder through gentle stretching. It will take several treatment sessions to make a real improvement in the movement, but clients should be able to gain some improvement after each session.
Much of what applies with frozen shoulder can also be applied to tennis or golf elbows.
Massage can assist with the tensions and pains experienced during pregnancy. These are often caused by the extra weight and drag on the lower back. Massage reduces peripheral swelling, soothes the nervous system, helps to prevent insomnia, muscle cramps and back pain.Care must be taken during the first trimester, but Pregnancy Massage is beneficial throughout the whole pregnancy. Various techniques are used as the client progresses through the pregnancy and massage may be performed whilst she is lying on her side or seated. Clients are discouraged from lying on their back as this may cause pressure on deep blood vessels.
Regular massage throughout the pregnancy is also said to shorten labour time and the return to optimal fitness after birth, as well as a welcome gift to self along the way.
Our unique remedial massage provides lasting relief for any chronic or acute pain. It drains the lymph system to release toxins and uses acupressure trigger points to remove blockages causing pain and inflammation. It strengthens the body’s immune system.

“I had a one hour detox massage here and it was wonderful! The pressure was excellent and my back and neck which had been very tight at the beginning had been loosened up and it was an excellent experience. I have become a member of this centre and will be returning frequently for more massages.”
“I’ve been here many times and never had a negative experience. The staff are punctual and professional and don’t rabbit on with inane questions and comments. The massages are top notch and I leave in much less pain than when I stumbled in. Plus, the relief lasts for days. The standard is high and consistent and I thoroughly recommend this service.”
“I came into the wellness centre for the first time to get a 1hr massage as my parents had been here before. When i walked in i could already feel the strong relaxing energy where i was greeted by a woman who felt very positive and em-powerful, i found out her name was Jenny. When i went into the room where i would be getting the massage it was very peaceful and well thought out. I got changed and laid on the table. Within minutes a lady came in and began the massage. I have had massages in the past but this was my first oil massage and i was the most relaxed i had ever been in my life laying on that table. Throughout the massage i was constantly asked if i was comfortable and ok which i was but to have that feeling that the genuinely cared throughout the entire hour made me feel just that little more relaxed. Once the massage was over i was told that i needed to drink a lot of water over the next few hours and to take it easy. When i got home i laid down on the bed to watch tv and the next thing i know i was waking up the next morning. For the first time in a long time i went straight to sleep and had a very peaceful sleep. I would highly recommend this wellness centre for all your massage needs and i would also recommend you go there on a regular basis to fully experience everything they have to offer. I will definitely be going back here on a very regular basis.”
“I just used my massage voucher for the detox 1hr it was amazing ! It was the most relaxing massage I’ve had and I’ve been to a few. Staff were welcoming and loved the heat bags and electric blanket underneath.”
“I walked in for a massage yesterday after my lower back seized up on me that morning. The lady providing the massage, Many, knew exactly how to relieve my pain and relax me. Her service level was above and beyond. I felt like it was her personal mission to have me walking out of there feeling heaps better….and I did! I have had many massages here and can’t recommend the Wellbeing Centre highly enough. The staff are always friendly and professional. I will keep going back whether its for relaxation or to reduce pain. Thank-you Many!”
