Dermot Walsh joined our firm in 2015 and is the Principal of the Canberra Office. Dermot has in excess of 20 years financial and business management experience and is available to support business owners in Canberra create more profitable, valuable and saleable businesses. IAN PRESCOTT Principal – B Bus (Acc/Fin), FIPA, FIFA, ATI Registered Tax Agent, NTAA
Ian Prescott is the Principal of Voltage Accounting and is a qualified accountant and registered Tax Agent who has been working in the Accounting profession since 1996.
In late 2005 he established his own accounting firm under the banner of Abacus Associates and operated from his home office until 2013 when he moved into his own office which is where he is today. The practice then rebranded to Voltage Accounting in 2014 and continues to grow through hard work, ethical practices and his passion for small business.
He has extensive experience in all areas of accounting, with expertise in taxation advice and tax planning. He also specialises in business structuring and development and general management advice. Ian believes growing your wealth is part of the client brief and as a consequence he helps clients implement tax effective strategies including negative gearing and self managed superannuation.
Ian loves technology and has been heavily involved in the development of our website. He says, “As an accounting firm we need to leverage off technology and we also need to walk the talk. Our website was redesigned to highlight our technical skills and to show clients we can also help them build their website and assist them with their marketing. We believe it is a major point of difference to other accounting firms.”
Ian believes the firm has a committment to helping clients minimize their compliance costs and it all starts with the right accounting software. According to Ian, “Given our diverse range of clients it’s no surprise that we support a range of accounting software programs but we lean towards cloud based solutions like Xero because they provide a range of benefits and drive efficiency in our office”.

OONA PRESCOTT
Oona joined our team in 2010 as Office manager and oversees the smooth operation of the practice. Oona ran her own business for over twenty years and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Voltage Accounting table.
Her role includes reception duties plus she also controls the mail, lodgements and handles all Tax Office correspondence. She is our liasion officer with the ATO.
Outside the office, Oona is the proud mother of two and enjoys focussing her spare time on the development and wellbeing of her family. Highly personable and attentive, she enjoys nothing more than assisting the team achieve both their business and personal goals.

MANISH TIDKE B Comm
We welcomed Manish to Voltage Accounting in December 2011. With 4 years previous Bookkeeping experience and under the guidance of our Principle, Ian Prescott, he has become a highly proficient staff member.
Manish is a XERO certified advisor and is one of the keys to assisting our clients with their Bookkeeping and day to day tasks required to manage their business. In addition to XERO Manish is also highly qualified with MYOB and SAASU.
In addition to Bookkeeping, Manish also plays a part in the preparation of BAS / IAS’s, Individual Income Tax Returns as well as Company financials & Tax returns.
Another major asset Manish has is his ability to speak Hindi and Marathi. This has enabled Voltage Accounting to take on numerous restaurants who primarily communicate using that language.

Dermot brings with him in excess of 20 years financial, business management and leadership experience. Dermot has held Chief Financial Officer positions in a range of commercial and public sector organisations in a range of industries, including land development, capital works and infrastructure delivery, general and workers’ compensation insurance and delivery of community services and facilities.
Dermot has particular skills in business strategy, business planning, financial management frameworks, risk management and also expertise in the application of GST in the land development and the insurance industries.

Originally a Mining Engineer, Shane undertook extensive study and became a Financial Planner in 2000.
