I have always had a passion for beauty. From the age of 15 I was lucky enough to begin having regular facials and using professional products on my skin. Every visit to my local beauty salon increased my desire to one day run my own salon.
For a while I lived in Florence, Italy and it was there that my passion really flourished. Italian women love to take such good care of themselves. I worked in a salon just outside of Florence, in Tavanuzze called Natur Estetica.
We specialised in skin, body and feet treatments. This is where I gained a lot of knowledge and experience that I later brought back to Australia.
When I returned, I worked for a couple of years at another salon before taking the plunge and opening my own salon. It was the best decision I ever made.
Since starting my own salon I continually engage in ongoing training to remain up to date on the latest methods and modalities. I also complete regular skin training to learn new things or to refresh myself on existing knowledge. There is always something new to learn and I find the more I do the same course, the more I gain extra knowledge and a deeper understanding.
I also complete regular ongoing training with one of my suppliers DMK. They have a certain number of points that you must gain each year through their training to keep your DMK paramedical license. This training is a wonderful source of information. I have also completed Gay Wardle’s master classes on skin analysis and am looking forward to taking part in her skin symposium class.
In the end, the thing that I love the most is sharing my knowledge with our clients and going out of my way to get them fantastic results.
