Who we are
Cosgrove & Co Pty Ltd was formed by Brian Cosgrove CPA in 1997 and, in conjunction with our financial planning arm Balanced Investment Strategies (BIS), the two companies operate out of our Palm Beach office on the Gold Coast, Australia as BIS Cosgrove.
Balanced Investment strategies (AFSL No. 314 365) was formed as a complimentary company to Cosgrove & Co Pty Ltd in response to a growing demand for financial planner services from our own accounting clients.
Together, the Cosgrove & Co and BIS team provide a comprehensive and objective financial management service. Our aim is to help you find the right balance with all your financial affairs. Rather than simply addressing our clients’ immediate requirements, we analyse the ‘bigger picture’ and address medium and long-term goals and objectives.

Brian CosgroveDirector 
The head guru. Specialising in tax, financial planning and superannuation, Brian has answers to almost any question thrown at him. He is a CPA, Tax Agent, Financial Planner and certified Superannuation Specialist. A Reds supporter of football and the beverage, Brian is an easy going fellow with a wealth of experience.
Shannon AspinallDirector & Accountant 
Shannon returned to our team in 2010 after ten years working in Sydney lured back by the warm weather, great lifestyle, love of surfing, and the opportunity to work back with family. Shannon is a qualified CPA with a financial planning specialisation and loves when both can be used to help her clients financial life!
Renee GambleDirector & Financial Planner 
With a diverse career, Renee heads up our financial planning business, bringing experience and knowledge to the table. Renee has been with the firm since 2000 and also has a wealth of business management and marketing experience.

Scott BruniAccounting Manager 
The quiet achiever of the group, Scott specialises in small business tax and project management. He has a Bachelor of Business, is a CPA and Tax Agent. Scott has been with the firm since 2003. He loves spending time with his wife and young sons and enjoys a cold beer while watching the footy.
Justin DoyleFinancial Planner 
Justin has been working in the financial services industry since 1999 and joined the firm in May 2003. He has specialist qualifications in self managed superannuation and has extensive experience as a financial planner and administrator. Justin has a myriad of interests ranging from music to sport to culinary delights.
Steven RakichSenior Accountant 
Steven began his career in a Sydney CBD firm where he spent 6 years working closely with small to medium sized businesses. In 2011, Steven decided to escape the Sydney weather and relocate to the Gold Coast with his wife and 2 beautiful daughters. His excellent organisational skills and extensive experience in the accounting industry make him the perfect addition to the BIS Cosgrove team. When he isn’t busy crunching the numbers, Steven loves to spend as much time with his family as possible, as well as managing to fit in 4-5 Crossfit sessions a week!
Harkirat JawandaAccountant 
Harkirat (or “Kirat” as we know her) has been living on the Gold Coast since 2009 with her family after moving from India. She studied at Griffith University completing her Master of Professional Accounting and is currently undertaking her CPA. Kirat is dedicated to the clients she serves and always delivers a quality outcome.
Gaelle BrownAccountant 
Gaelle joined the accounting team in August 2014. She has completed a diplomas in Accounting and Australian Taxation Law and is currently pursuing a Bachelor degree of Business in Accounting. Her eagerness to learn comes from her genuine commitment to provide clients with suitable, accurate and up to date advices. Her drive is displayed in her passion for golf where she has achieved “pro” status.
Jack YoungAssistant Accountant 
Jack started his position at BIS Cosgrove in early 2016, bringing more than 5 years of experience in the finance industry with him. He is currently completing a bachelor of business at Griffith University. When he isn’t at work, Jack loves to travel, especially to the snow where he tears up the slopes on his snowboard.
Liz LearyFinancial Planning Administrator 
Liz has been working as a financial planning administrator for the last 17 years, gaining valuable experience with several financial planning practices prior to joining BISCosgrove in January 2013.
Darin TrounceFinancial Planning Administrator 
Darin, our resident Kiwi, joined the team in July 2015. He has a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and is currently completing his ADFP. Darin enjoys being active and has represented New Zealand for swimming.
Fiona BurgeClient Services / Administration 
With a bubbly personality and infectious laugh Fiona is the person you meet when you come into reception. Prior to starting a family, she had 18 years experience in the banking industry, mainly in human resources and public relations. Fiona joined the firm in 2007 and brings with her a wealth of customer service experience.
Louise WallerClient Service Officer 
Louise joined the team in 2014. She’s a busy mum of 3 beautiful children. Louise is also a part time swim coach and is heavily involved in the Currumbin Surf Club. She loves being outdoors and spending time at the beach. Life is never boring.
Shannon BroadbentClient Services / Administration 
Shannon joined the team in September 2015. She had 7 years experience in aged and acute care. Shannon enjoys a variety of dance classes and is always eager for a new challenge.
Samantha WhitbreadAccounting Administrator 
Samantha has been working in accounting administration for over 10 years and joined BIS Cosgrove in 2013. She has also had experience in property development and legal administration. Samantha has a passion for photography and usually has a camera in hand when not at work.
Catrina KeftMortgage Broker 
Catrina started working with the team in 2012. The relationship has been going strong since and in early 2015 she started working every Monday from our office.
Catrina has worked in mortgages for over 15 years, 5 of those as a mortgage broker. In her spare time you will find her running around after her extremely active toddler!
Rebecca Hagan 
Bookkeeper 
Bec joined us in February 2012 after moving to the Gold Coast from Melbourne. She is currently completing her Advanced Diploma in Accounting. Bec loves the outdoors and has taken up surfing since coming to the coast.
