Sam Wagner, the Creative Director launched Sambag in 1996. Following a trip to New York she created a small range of bags that she sold at Sydney’s Paddington Markets. In 1998, she showed at Mercedes Australian Fashion Week, further elevating the Sambag profile and confirming its place among the fashion conscious.
Her first store, with its’ signature blue façade opened in Woollahra, Sydney in 2005. Other stores in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia soon followed.
In 2011 Sambag became the Pointe Shoe Partner of The Australian Ballet, a prestigious and honoured brand association. Sambag strives to be an environmentally friendly and sustainable business. Plastic is banned and all packaging is made from recycled paper. Wagner also supports the Breast Cancer Foundation, Sydney Cancer Council and Sydney Children’s Hospital.
“Decorated in beautiful soft pastel blues, Sambag is a well presented boutique of leather shoes and high quality clothes and jewelry pieces. The staff are friendly and the change rooms are very large. Their jewelry is stunning, modern statements pieces, many crafted in India. The leather bags are light and come with a cute dust bag. It’s a little pricier compared to the high street labels but you do pay for quality pieces that will last.”
