Hello BumCheeks lovers! My name is Bec, I am an Aussie mum of three boys Levi, Isaac and Caleb. I have always been behind the scenes here at BumCheeks but as of January 2017, I’ve had the keys passed onto me to take on BumCheeks without my beautiful friend Hollie!
I wanted to keep all of the information on this page about the history of BumCheeks, but to also give you all a little more to the story.
When Hollie and I started using Modern cloth nappies, our sons were between 6 and 8 months old. She bought some, I bought some, and we discussed the things that we liked and didn’t like about them and what we would change to make them better. Hollie, being the brains of the operation, decided to start making her own. She taught me how to sew them, although I wasn’t quite as good at sewing as she was, but we had a lot of fun with different fabrics and designs.
Once she had perfected the BumCheeks design, business began to boom and the orders became to much to keep up with, which is when we out sourced to a factory in China.
As the years have passed by and our babies have grown out of nappies, the demand for work, the kids school, Uni and life in general has taken over. Neither one of us wanted to see the end of this brand, so I have now taken the reigns and I am so excited to hopefully live up to my fabulous friends legacy! xx
BumCheeks was created in 2009 by a stay at home Aussie mum to two beautiful babies.
I started using modern cloth nappies when my son was 6 months old. Unimpressed with the fit and quality of the nappies I began making my own. With the birth of my little girl I became more creative with styles and fabrics while showing a particular interest in funky design. By 2010 the B cheeks jeans nappy was created and has been a big hit ever since!
Every part of the BumCheeks design was carefully thought out and tested. I chose to use snaps rather than velcro as I found they lasted longer. Velcro tends to wear down quickly, especially when it is being washed so frequently. I also chose snaps for the rise settings to make my nappies to fit babies 4-16kg. Originally I chose to have a double layer of bamboo sewn into the nappies, but after testing, I found that it took far to long to dry, which is why I changed this to a double layer of microfibre sewn in, plus the bamboo fold over insert, giving you 6 layers of absorbency. Plus the design as a pocket nappy gives you the choice to add more layers for heavy wetters. Unimpressed with the fit of the nappies I had tried when I had first started using Modern Cloth Nappies, I found that they were too wide between the legs, which is why I have made my nappies to be as slim as possible.

Our Factory
In 2010 business started to boom and it was no longer possible to sew all of the nappies myself, after careful consideration and alot of research I found an ethical factory in China that met the standards of quality and workmanship to continue my work. All the fabrics currently being used to manufacture nappies are made in China so it only made sense to have them made in the same place passing the savings onto my customers.

Caring for your Nappies
Washing 
Pre wash nappies before use, it will take 3-4 washes for them to reach peak absorbency. Before washing remove any solids by tipping them into the toilet or rinsing. Store in a dry nappy bucket or a wet bag if you are out and about. Once there is enough nappies for a load tip them into the washing machine removing the inserts.
There is no need to soak or use bleach/sanitizing products, as they can irritate sensitive skins and reduce the life of the elastic in your nappies.
We recommend a normal cycle with half strength laundry detergent. or we recommend using Soap Nuts! (be careful of fabric softener as they can reduce absorbency). Should you have any stains remaining after washing, hang the nappy inside out in the sun for a short time and the stains will be naturally bleached by the sun. We recommend the use of a drying rack to prevent stretching and prolong the life of the elastic.
Can I use the dryer? 
Nappies can be tumble dried on a low setting, Inserts can be dried on high.
Strip Washing 
You may wish to do an occasional strip wash to move any leftover detergent, which can sometimes cause build up and reduce the absorbency of your nappies. To do this, wash your nappies on hot, with 1/4 cup of dish washing detergent, then continue to rinse thoroughly.
Using Soap Nuts to wash your nappies (highly recommended!) 
If using whole as a laundry detergent, put 4-6 whole soap nuts (depending on the load size) in the small calico wash bag supplied with purchase. Tie the top of the bag and place in the machine with your load. This same bag of soap nuts can be used 4-6 times, depending on the water temperature and whether your water supply is hard or soft. Soap nuts are ready to discard when they start to take on a slightly transparent appearance and no longer froth up when rubbed with water. Used soap nuts can be composted in your garden. Whole soap nuts are most effective when used in warm or hot water. To get the best use in cold water
Putting your nappies back together 
To assemble nappies insert the booster down into the pocket, rounded edge to the back. Your nappy is then ready to use.
JEANS NAPPIES Need to be washed separate in cold water for the first few washes as the denim may run.

Bum Cheeks stands behind the workmanship and quality of all properly cared for products for 6 months from the date of purchase. 
Our product guarantee covers all snap, elastic and fabric components of our nappies.
Should you find any fault with your Bum Cheeks products, please Let us know immediately.
You will be required to write a detailed letter so that we can better understand the problem you are experiencing, and this letter is to be completed and sent back to us with the items of concern. 
Postage is covered by us on any faulty items. 
We will repair or replace any FAULTY goods up to 6 months from the date of purchase. 
This guarantee is valid for the ORIGINAL purchaser only, and proof of purchase will be required, so be sure to hang on to your receipt for any warranty claims.
Please be aware that should any items be sent back to us and they are deemed 
not to be faulty, you will be responsible for all postage costs associated with the products being delivered to and from our facility.
