In 1978, Eric and Doreen Allington saw great potential in the Golden Grove Supplies Store, which at the time incorporated the Post Office, Fodder Store, Deli and Petrol Station.
The original business operated as a chaff-cutting operation, supplying grain, hay and pellet feed to places as far away as Broken Hill and Alice Springs.
Golden Grove Supplies became Allingtons Supplies and sons David and Len left school to work in the family business.
In 1981 Graham Allington the current Managing Director, joined the business having just graduated from university.
In 1988 the business was divided into three separate enterprises; Golden Grove Fodder, owned by David, Allingtons Hardware, owned by Len and Golden Grove Saddlery, owned by Graham.
Over the years Golden Grove Saddlery evolved into a retail country clothing operation with less empahsis on saddlery.
The business was renamed Allingtons Country Clothing and Saddlery.
In 1996 Allingtons attended the first of many Field Days.
Five times a year Allingtons become a mobile store travelling to Lucindale, Paskeville/Cleve, AGFEST in Tasmania, Royal Adelaide Show and Deni Ute Muster in NSW.
Allingtons have come a long way since those relatively humble beginnings.
In October 2001 the business was renamed Allingtons Outpost to reflect the greater variety of country clothing, work and western wear.
The name change coincided with the move from the smaller Golden Grove store to the larger more prominant premises on Main North Road at Parafield, growing and developing to what it is today.
In 2011 our new Loyalty Reward programme was introduced giving our loyal customers monthly draws, gifts, VIP nights and fuss-free exchanges and returns.
In 2013 Allingtons Outpost celebrated 35 years of being in business and has grown into one of the largest companies of its type in Australia.
We attribute this to our philosophy of offering the best brands, most extensive range and best service to our valued customers so they have a unique and pleasurable shopping experience.
At Allingtons, we cater for the whole family with a fantastic range of Country Clothing, Western & Work Wear, Boots, Hats, Jeans, Oilskins, Swags and Saddlery.
In 2013 we went head first into the word of social media launching our Facebook page and Twitter account which keeps our customers updated daily.
The launch of our online store in 2014 has opened the company to a national and global market.

I put a pair on layby over the phone which was such a quick and easy thing to do, I paid the layby off yesterday 31st and recieved the boots today 1st. They are exactly as shown on the website. “I recently purchased the Women’s Ariat Heritage II Lacers to find out they were slightly too big compared to my Ariat H2O terrains (which I love for mud and bathing horses, yes they are actually waterproof). I rang and talked to Lyn who was excellent and she took the time to discuss over the phone the correct size I needed, which was only a half size difference. Turns out the fit is so true to size, that I only need a half size up from my terrains as they are a slimmer fit. After weeks of trying on different boots at the local retailers, I quickly learned I have a larger instep on my right foot and I don’t fit regular boots, as I can’t get my foot past the curve. I wore lace-ups in the past because I loved how comfortable they were, but now I know why I always chose them…Anyways, Lyn exchanged my boots straight away and it only took a week, which I was super impressed as mail can be very slow to get to rural far north QLD. I’ve never ordered any boots or even shoes on the internet before and Allingtons made it a simple process. Although I had to pay for shipping them back for the return, I was still happy with the cost, as Allingtons price was still low enough, that even with the return shipping I still got them at a great price! I’m a very happy customer and recommend these boots to any women with fit issues, especially moms who’s feet have spread slightly after having kids. They have a larger width and you can wear them with or without the leather tassels. Now to get them dirty and worn in! Thanks again, I’ll definitely be ordering again in future :)”
