Art on Skin Tattoo Gallery is a boutique style licensed tattoo studio in Artarmon Sydney. Art on Skin was established in 2014 by female tattoo artist ‘Flick’. Flick’s idea was to create a studio with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere for clients and a space which motivates and inspires those interested in the ancient practice of tattooing.

The studio is located upstairs on level 2, 66 Hampden Road Artarmon. We have chosen this location to offer our clients privacy and to escape the distractions usually experienced in a regular street tattoo shop. Our spacious steampunk styled studio features a private room, exclusive balcony and TatSoul tattoo chairs for your comfort.

COVER-UPS

Art On Skin Tattoo Gallery is the place to go in Sydney if you want to revitalize your old tattoos. Our artists have the creativity and expertise and we work together with you to fix or refresh your tattoos, or to cover them, if we can.

Please email a photo of the tattoo you want fixed or come into the studio so we can discuss options. For dark and hard to cover tattoos, we suggest a few sessions of laser to lighten the ink for a more successful cover up.

  Aftercare Instructions

Your new tattoo has been applied using new sterile needles, tips, gloves, ink caps, rinse cups and these items are disposed of after use. After spending the time and money to have a professional, hygienic tattoo done, you don’t want to ruin your new ink as a result of poor aftercare.

1. Remove the cover after 1-2 hours

The reason for covering a freshly made tattoo is to protect it from dirt, bacteria and keep any blood/fluids from getting on clothes. It is a good idea to cover your tattoo with fresh plastic wrap after washing and without applying cream, for the first night before you go to bed.

2. Wash gently with soap and water using clean hands

After removing the cover you must wash the tattoo gently yet thoroughly using a hand soap and warm water. Only during this first wash you may use a cloth to remove dried blood and ink. Pat dry with a clean towel.

3. Wash your tattoo morning and night

Gentle hand wash only with a mild soap. Remember to have clean hands before you touch your tattoo and use a clean towel to pat dry.

4. Apply Dr Pickles Tattoo Balm 3 times daily or when the tattoo feels dry or itchy. 5. Do not swim or soak

You may shower with your new tattoo but keep showers quick. Do not have baths, swim in the sea or soak in any water until ALL the flakiness has stopped and it is fully healed. Soaking your tattoo in water will result in colour loss.

6. Wear loose clothing and keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight during healing.

Your tattoo will usually push ink out and leave marks on clothing and sheets so keep this in mind. It is very important to make sure your bed sheets and clothing are washed and clean. Cover your new tattoo with clothing if you are going to be in the sun and only after it has healed should you apply sunscreen.

7. Do not pick or scratch

Tattoos may form scabs and flaking skin. Leave your tattoo alone, do not pick or scratch. After your initial flake falls off, you may experience a secondary flake known as milky skin which will last up to a week. Keep applying cream and avoid sunlight until this goes away.

8. Typically tattoos take 10-14 days to heal

Follow the above instructions until your tattoo is completely healed.

PIERCING

Art On Skin Tattoo Gallery is also a body piercing studio. Our friendly and experienced piercer Maddy Chan is available for all your piercing and jewellery needs by appointment only and bookings are available 7 days a week. Please call or email the studio for prices and to make a booking.
You can find Maddy in the studio on Saturdays but please call ahead to confirm first.

All piercings are done with single use disposable needles and high quality autoclave sterilised body jewellery.  Numbing cream and body jewellery can be ordered by your request at the time of booking. We do piercings for children but sorry, no babies or toddlers.

Art On Skin is the best place for piercing on Sydney’s North Shore. The studio is a few minutes from Chatswood, St Leonards and Lane Cove.

 Do I need to book an appointment?

We do cater to the occasional walk-in if time permits. For custom work it is best to make an appointment so that the artist has time to create a design for the tattoo. Bookings are available 7 days and can be made in person or via email to info@artonskin.com.au. All bookings require a minimum $50 deposit which will be taken off the price of the final tattoo session. If a booking is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, you forfeit the deposit.

Do you sell gift vouchers?

Yes tattoo gift vouchers are available to purchase in the studio or online via our bigcartel site http://artonskin.bigcartel.com/.

How do I get tattooed in the private room?

Please request that you would like to get tattooed in our private room when booking in your tattoo.

What are your rates?

Please come into the shop or email info@artonskin.com.au if you would like a quote for a tattoo.

 Can I drink before I get tattooed?

We will not tattoo anyone who is under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Is it safe?

Only high quality sterile single use needles are used and when non-disposable tattoo grips are used they are thoroughly cleaned and sterilized using hospital grade autoclave sterilization.

Do you do fix ups/cover ups?

We are happy to touch up old tattoos, or to cover them, if we can. Please email a photo of the tattoo you want fixed or come into the studio so we can discuss options.
