ABOUT US

Aspire Physiotherapy was founded in October 2015. We are committed to providing you with a high standard of evidence based care to assist in achieving your treatment goals, in a safe and timely manner. We are one of the few Physiotherapy Practices in the Coogee/Randwick/Kingsford area’s to provide Clinical Pilates (with Reformer), dry needling and spinal traction. In the near future we will also be able to offer you Real Time Ultrasound.

We aspire to:

  • Work WITH you to achieve YOUR goals, whether that’s to get a good night’s sleep without shoulder pain, return to sport following a knee reconstruction, or make that ski trip following a back injury!!
  • Encourage you to take an active, rather than passive approach to your recovery, through education and understanding
  • Develop realistic treatment plans with you that focus on education, appropriate exercise prescription and physiotherapy best practice, keeping in mind your individual situation
  • Provide a friendly, relaxed atmosphere
  • Keep up to date with the latest research in physiotherapy practice
  • Keep to appointment times
  • Consultation Overview

At Aspire Physiotherapy we understand that you are paying for our time and expertise. As such, we do not “double-book” and treat only one client at a time. We believe exercise prescription, education and manual therapy are the cornerstones of successful Physiotherapy intervention. For that reason, use of “machines” is minimal, and application of electrotherapy, dry needling and spinal traction are used as adjuncts to therapy and are generally applied in addition to a nominated “face to face” time with your Physiotherapist, (45-60 mins for Initial Consultation, 30 mins for Follow up/Standard Consultation)

Initial Consultation

We undertake a 45-60 minute Initial Assessment and Treatment. We believe this allows us to better assess your complaint, provide you with adequate information about your injury/condition, provide “hand’s on” treatment as required and ensure you are confident with any home exercises and can perform them independently and safely at home. Please arrive 10 minutes early for your Initial Assessment to fill out client information and consent forms and bring any relevant x-rays/scans.

Follow-up Consultations

We offer 2 types of Follow-up Consultations. For a single area, we provide a 30 minute session during which we will review your progress and home exercise program, and provide further treatment. We also offer a Long Consultation (45 -60) minutes) if you have multiple injury areas or a complex injury.

Following treatment it is normal to experience some post-treatment soreness for a couple of days, (often the second day is worse). This occurs due to changes we have made to the tissues that they are not used to, and associated inflammation. This pain will settle and will lessen at following sessions. If you are concerned about your level of pain or it is not settling as expected, please contact us. Gentle movement throughout the day will help prevent stiffness and reduce the associated pain.
