Ben Horner
Director

Ben initially joined McConachie Stedman as a young undergraduate in 2002. After 5 years with the firm he moved to Townsville to take on a number of commercial roles to further his breadth of experience. Ben returned to Toowoomba in 2009 to take on a management and leadership role within the Audit Solutions Queensland division at McConachie Stedman. Since his return, he has been instrumental in both the development and growth of this Division. Ben has an in-depth knowledge and understanding of financial reporting standards applying to Australian companies, due diligence engagements and internal control reviews for small business.

A key achievement for Ben was becoming a Director at McConachie Stedman on July 1st, 2014 after over 10 years of service with the firm. This was always a professional goal for Ben and now it is realised, he dedicates his time to present to and mentor his fellow accountants on technical matters. Looking ahead, he hopes to increase his presentations at a number of conferences throughout the year.

Professionally, Ben thrives on being a partner in his client’s businesses, and works across a number of specialty industries including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporations, educational institutions, Not-for-profits and local government bodies.

Away from the office Ben is an NFL fanatic and loves the Oakland Raiders. When Ben is on the road travelling, you can be sure to catch him listening to his favourite ‘Around the NFL’ podcast to catch up on the latest news.

Mark Liesch
Director
Taxation and Audit

Mark joined McConachie Stedman as a young office junior in 1978, fresh out of school. He then began his formal University study in 1980 and is currently the longest standing Director within the firm. Mark’s down-to-earth approach, backed by his high level of technical expertise in both the taxation and audit areas, has earned him a high amount of respect among both McConachie Stedman clients and team.

Mark became a Director in 2000 and is the only current Director to have worked alongside our founding partners Mr McConachie and Mr Stedman. Mark is our Audit Review Director and is one of very few Registered Company Auditors within our region. He works closely with primary producers, deceased estates, SME’s and the hospitality industry.

On the weekends Mark can be found watching his beloved Garden City Raiders play. His family has had over 15 years involvement with the club, with Mark as the current Treasurer.

Did we mention the love of his life? A 1978 XC Fairmont nicknamed “The Hardtop”.
