BIBA has been playing a leading role in the hairdressing industry for over 40 years now, with its first salon established in 1975. The original salon was located on Main Street, Box Hill and solely operated by present director of BIBA, Paul Divitaris.
More salons soon followed in Greensborough and Boronia. During the 1980’s, additional salons were opened including Moonee Ponds, Hawthorn and Mont Albert. In the 90’s, Camberwell, Richmond, Fitzroy, Hawthorn, Forest Hill and another Moonee Ponds salon took off. In the 00’s salons in Carlton, Clifton Hill, Balwyn and Doncaster opened. Today there are 14 BIBA Salons operating in Melbourne and one in Taiwan.
Each BIBA salon is owned and operated by BIBA trained graduates. This has been our key in keeping the real BIBA technique of cutting throughout our salons.
It wasn’t until the late 90’s when the Hairdressing Academies were established, first in Collingwood then Fitzroy and Windsor. Now we have BIBA Academies operating in Fitzroy and in Melbourne’s city centre.
Originally the Academy was established to train and motivate the company staff; however the Academy grew with new legislation which granted us the right to deliver education as Nationally Accredited Providers. These accredited certificates include:
CERTIFICATE II (Pre Apprenticeship)
CERTIFICATE III (in Hairdressing)
CERTIFICATE III (in Hairdressing Apprenticeship Training)
CERTIFICATE IV (in Hairdressing)
Our student base consists of apprentices, overseas and full-time / part-time students. With our vast pool of knowledge at BIBA, we also conduct advanced courses taught by members of the Creative Team in all facets of hairdressing. We also teach those already working in the industry that are wanting to re-skill and refresh their techniques.
