Emma Trotter
Emma graduated from Endeavour College of Natural health and holds a Diploma of Remedial Massage. She is also certified in Swedish Massage and Dry needling.
As a therapist her aim is not only to relieve any superficial symptoms present but also to use her skills and knowledge to help clients resolve the underlying issues that lead to such conditions.
This can be done through postural assessment, Range of Motion testing, analysis, medical history and everything in between. Emma’s assessment continues throughout her treatments.
She believe’s the best method of identifying issues is by feeling the muscles, tissues, tendons and fibres of the body while remaining conscious of her clients’ response.
Emma believe’s in using a wide range of techniques specific to each client such as myofacial release, Swedish, deep tissue, trigger pointing, sports, lymphatic drainage, cupping and dry needling.
She uses these techniques to restore function and improve mobility, all while focusing on the client’s individual needs & goals.
By adjusting her treatments to the needs of her client, she’s able to achieve a happy medium between relaxation and a (sometimes painful) resolution.
Her goal is to help you manage your pain and to take part in the process through stretches, strengthening exercises and minor lifestyle changes outside of the clinic.
This way every session adds value rather than the clients coming back every other week for a short-term fix of a long-term problem.
Her interests centre on lower back, shoulder and neck pain, with specific interest in the way stress both mentally and physically affects the body.
She additionally has special interest in nerve conditions such as carpel tunnel, tennis/golfers elbow and sciatica.
She’s fascinated by how both facia and joints affect muscle tension; because of this she hopes to continue her studies in Musculoskeletal Therapy, then eventually Chiropractic Science.

Services
Relaxation Massage
Remedial Massage therapy is the assessment and treatment of soft tissue dysfunctions that cause pain or restrict movement. It is the assessment component of Remedial Massage that makes this treatment style different from all other massage modalities. Here at Boran we use osteopathic based physical testing, observation and palpation to form a “working diagnosis”. This enables us to treat the symptoms and most importantly, the source of the pain.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is a deliberate and focused treatment applied to both the superficial and deep layers of muscles, fascia, and other structures. It is both corrective and therapeutic and is beneficial for many physical problems, including sports injuries and chronic pain.
Trigger Point Massage
Trigger Point Therapy or Neuromuscular Technique (NMT) is a proven method used for the relief of soft tissue pain and dysfunction. Trigger points are areas of hyperirritability in soft tissue structures often manifesting as “knots” or tight bands of fibre. These can be acute sources of pain or latent, unnoticed until pressure is applied by your therapist. Using firm digital pressure, manipulation and stretching, a Boran Trigger Point Massage relieves muscular pain by stimulating the nervous system, increasing circulation to the affected area and encouraging the hypertonic tissue to return to its relaxed state.
Sports Massage
Sports massage is designed to prevent and relieve injuries and conditions associated with exercise. It is a specific, vigorous, results based treatment using stretching and Muscular Energy Techniques. A Boran Sports Massage can be carried out before or after playing sport or exercising. It is designed to increase endurance and performance, minimise the chances of injury and, reduce the recovery time of existing injuries.
Lymphatic Drainage Massage
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is an intentionally gentle massage technique that helps to mobilise lymph fluid in order to eliminate waste from tissue and promote immune function.
Lymphatic Massage is particularly effective in treating Lymphoedema, post-surgery swelling, general swelling and can assist with scar tissue management.
Specialist trained Boran Remedial Therapists stimulate the lymphatic system with light, directionally focused massage, which encourages the body to drain swollen tissue, aiding in its natural waste removal. Boran Remedial Therapists are able to measure the size of swollen area or limb before and after MLD treatment, enabling you to track your results and determine the effectiveness of this technique.
Boran recommends light duties following your Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage, ideal to be scheduled on a day off or after work.
Pregnancy Massage
While pregnant, women often suffer from neck, shoulder and lower back pain due to hormonal changes and the increasing physical load on different areas of the body. Pregnancy massage can help you alleviate tension, reduce pain, relieving headaches, leg cramps, insomnia, fluid retention, stress and fatigue.
We use specially designed massage cushions which allow you to lay safely and comfortably on your stomach and back until full term. Our electric massage tables allow you to safely transition on and off the massage bed increasing your comfort level during your Boran Pregnancy Massage experience. Pregnancy Massage cushions are available at Boran clinics Brisbane wide and mothers who are happy to receive their full treatment side-laying or laying on their backs, can be accommodated comfortably as well.
Following your baby’s birth, post-natal massage can aid you in your recovery from the birthing process, relieve tension and ease stress in both new parents. Additionally, many new mums find a focused massage helps ease pain and tension derived from the forward muscular strain pattern of breast feeding, lifting and carrying a new baby.
Boran Therapists as a minimum hold the highest possible Australian qualification in massage being a Diploma of Remedial Massage and have received Pregnancy Massage training from a registered training organisation (RTO). We do not charge extra for Pregnancy Massage. Our expertise, equipment and value for money is second to none and ensures your safety, effectiveness and comfort during treatment.
Myofascial Dry Needling
Myofascial Dry Needling is a relatively new, exciting and highly effective form of therapy for the treatment of a multitude of muscular conditions.
Very fine sterile disposable filament needles are inserted into Trigger Points which stimulate the points, desensitising and deactivating them and the associated referred pain resulting in pain relief, relaxed muscle tissue and healing.
Our skilled and professionally trained therapists will work with you as gently as possible to alleviate your pain while maintaining comfort. It’s common to feel a tingling sensation or dull ache when the needles are initially applied. A twitch/spasm response can then follow which is rarely painful but can be uncomfortable. Clients often report an immediate improvement of their symptoms following the twitch/spasm response and have also described a pleasant heaviness in the limbs or a feeling of relaxation during the treatment.
Therapists who are currently qualifed to perform this technique are our Senior Therapists Alan Park and Amanda Evans.
How does it work?
Dry Needling targets Trigger Points which are direct and palpable muscular sources of pain, rather than traditional “meridians” accessed via Acupuncture (Traditional Chinese Medicine). This effective evidence based technique is based on neuro-anatomy and modern scientific study of the musculoskeletal and neuromuscular systems and has been proven to be consistently successful for the treatment of muscular pain and more.
What conditions can be treated?
Dry Needling is commonly used for the below conditions but are not limited to:-
Muscle Tightness and Spasms
Sprains and Strains
Inflammation
Tendonitis
Trigger Points
Frozen Shoulder
Rotator Cuff Injuries
Headaches
Post Surgery Conditions
A Boran Dry Needling treatment can be added to any style and length of massage for an additional $10*.
Myofascial Cupping
Myofascial Cupping is a safe and non-invasive technique for effective release of connective tissue or fascia, and muscle hyperirritability.
Myofascial cupping is a modified version of the ancient Chinese style of cupping with the major difference being the targeting of the musculoskeletal system rather than meridian systems used by Traditional Chinese Medicine.
A Boran cupping treatment can be added to any style and length of massage booked for an additional $10*, and is effective in treating neck and back pain, repetitive strain injuries, muscle spasms and tightness.
Reviews
“I have had several massages here and can’t recommend Stasha highly enough. She really has a gift and I always walk out feeling better. She is particularly good with sports related injuries and knots. Highly recommended.”
“This place had such good reviews but I was really disappointed. 45 mins of pressing on individual spots is definitely not my idea of a massage. Left feeling much the same as when I walked in.”
“I have had back pain for a while, and in past year I have tried a chiro, who was good, but the pain would always come back. I have now hurt my lower back badly at the gym. I found Boran Ashgrove on google and I’m so glad I found them. Natasha was amazing. She did trigger points and I can feel the benefits already. She had lots of helpful advice and showed me useful stretches to do myself. She found that the problem was not my back, but my glutes. I feel amazing after walking out of there. I can move more freely and I feel like I’m even walking straighter and less lopsided. Natasha was very professional and even suggested a yoga place for me! Very happy and will be recommending her for sure. Thank you.”
“I have suffered from migraines for years. One day I walked in with a really bad migraine, and was treated by Stasha. I walked out and had nearly complete relief. She was so kind and worked on my neck until it felt better, and the strain wasn’t going up to my neck anymore. She did this whilst keeping me warm and cooling me down (if you’ve ever had a migraine you will understand) I couldn’t recommend Stasha or the clinic more. A very loyal customer :)”
“Thank you so much Tash for my massage, My leg feels better than ever! Tash is obviously very knowledgeable and passionate about her job and gave me so much helpful information, stretches and advice. I can not recommend her enough. :)”
