Biography

Shila is the owner-operator of Brows N Lash and has over 25 years experience in the beauty industry. Qualified in the Uk in 1985  she obtained an ITEC diploma in beauty therapy.

Shila is now the definitive go-to guru for grooming the most important feature on your face.

Through the years she has achieved the best techniques, so that each clients eyebrow design is the most natural looking enhancement to their face.

She customises each client with a unique eyebrow design that will frame her clients face and ultimately enhance her client’s facial features.

In Jan 2016 Shila did further training in feathering & cosmetic tattooing.

She has worked in the UK for a long period of time in her own brow bar where she was busy recreating, shaping, rescuing, and defining eyebrows through the unique combination of Threading-3D-HD-Embroidery-Feathering to create the perfect arch to frame your face.

Having  perfect eyebrows is like having a mini face lift.

While the extremely sculpted brow of the 90 resurfaces from time to time, the full, natural brow leads the pack as the biggest brow tread for this decade.

It’s amazing how the structure of eyebrows can affect one’s look. Done overzealously, though, tweezing, waxing or threading eyebrows can have quite the opposite effect- ageing, hardening and sometimes even downright deforming the balance of the face.

The three cardinal brow sins : too thin, too heavy or too low.

Over plucked brows can instantly age the face and make other features look out of proportion. A brow line that is too low or heavy can look extremely unkempt and also add years by pulling down the eye area.

Unfortunately, many women aren’t aware of the impact that their brow shape has on their face, and even if they do realize that their natural caterpillar brows overrun their face, they might not seek a professional’s help.

Threading is an ancient method of hair removal which originated in the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent and is now gaining popularity throughout the whole world.  It involves the use of a pure cotton thread  rolling gently on the skin to pull the extra unwanted hairs from its roots.

What is 3D, HD or cosmetics eyebrow feathering/microblading?

3D cosmetic eyebrow feathering is a semi permanent technique using colour pigment drawn onto the skin giving you natural looking eyebrows. The technique used is natural feathering of hair like strokes creating a beautifully designed brow. It’s like imitating your hair growth into fine lines and filling the gaps thus defining a 3D definition  with a fuller and thicker  finish.

HD is the high definition of the brows now very popular in Europe mainly in UK. It’s done through the process of tinting with a darker shade , meaning one tone darker than your actual eyebrows ,hence defining your shape prominently and with definition. This process  takes  about  20-25 mins and lasts you up to 2 weeks. If you want the colour to be permanently there on your eyebrows  then the next option would be the EYEBROWS FEATHERING / MICROBLADING AND 3D

What difference is there between 3D eyebrows feathering / microblading & HD?

3D………hair strokes of hair added into your sparse eyebrows to give you a fuller and thicker look. The effect is very natural and settled.

HD………tinting with a one tone darker than your actual eyebrows to catch all the light hairs around your brows area and gather them for a high definition look.

EYEBROWS FEATHERING / MICROBLADING ……. Full closer hair strokes put together to imitate your own hairs  giving you a more full embroidered eyebrows with more definitions.

Will 3D eyebrows feathering/ microblading be the same as eyebrows tattoos?

No. Definitely not.

The work involved with eyebrow feathering is only performed on the skin surface. Hence , an Eyebrow feathering  will be a MUCH SAFER treatment than eyebrow tattoos. This technique deposits coloured pigments in the upper layers of the dermis. this method is also  beneficial for chemotherapy  and diabetetic patients. The colour can also be adjusted in alignment with the original eyebrow hair colour, which results to a realistic look and feel. Eyebrow embroidery creates the background and fills in the parts of the eyebrows that looked empty so that a full and complete look is accomplished. The “3D” effect gives it an added realism to the end result.

It is a method whereby colours are inserted to the upper layers of the skin where it lasts only 2-3 years depending on the skin retention of colours.

Unlike an eyebrow tattoo, 3D eyebrow feathering does not leave a flat, dull and fake look that tattoos leave behind. With tattooing the colour will turn eggplant, green & grey whereas with embroidery your eyebrows will have the most natural look ever .

The process will take around 2 hrs:  1 hr of drawing your desired shape  followed by the actual process of imitating your hair growth into a 3D and embroidering the hairs in.  All we need is an embroidery pen, a pencil for drawing and  colour pigment matching your own hairs on your brows.

What are eyelash extensions?

Single synthetic eyelashes are applied to your own natural eyelash to achieve a beautiful full luscious and long set of lashes that are natural and you won’t even know  they are there.

How are the eyelash extensions applied?
A single natural eyelash is isolated and a synthetic lash is glued to the top of your own natural eyelash approximately 1mm from the eyelid so neither the glue or the lash has contact with the skin. The procedure will take  about 1 hour  for a full set and 45 mins for  an in-fill.

For the first 12 hours avoid getting  the lashes wet to allow the glue to completely dry
Do not use a steam room or sauna for the first 48 hours to allow glue to cure

Do not perm or curl the extensions.
Avoid wearing mascara as this will lessen the life of your extensions
Try and sleep on your back to avoid crushing your extensions in the pillow
The golden rule for wearing eyelash extensions is the less you touch them the longer they will last.  However, it is important to keep the eye area clean.

Can the eyelash extensions be removed? 

Yes, at any time for any reason they can be removed however there will be a removal charge.The extension lashes are easily removed by using a glue remover and is safe.

Henna tattoos

Henna tattoos, also known as Mehndi, is another form of temporary tattoo.

Coming from a south Asian tradition, henna uses a paste made from the powdered leaves of the Henna plant, its active dye, binds with the keratin in skin, fingernails, and hair.

Traditional henna is drawn in delicate patterns on the hands and feet, but modern henna is applied in all sorts of designs anywhere on the body.

Unlike other forms of temporary tattoos, Henna does not allow for a full range of colors but only shades of reds, browns, and near-blacks. The paste is applied and left on the skin for several hours to stain. The stain will gradually fade away as the skin sheds.

Henna tattoos can last days to over a month depending on application and aftercare.
