About Classic Beauty Salon

In 1988 Lucy and her daughter Jocelyn arrived from the Philippines to start a new life in Australia. Lucy began working at Alyce’s Beauty in Piccadilly Arcade in Pitt Street Sydney – a small salon with only one treatment room! During this time, Jocelyn studied accounting and worked part time at a public relations company.

However, within six months of Lucy joining Alyce’s Beauty, the business was forced to find new premises due to major renovations occurring in Piccadilly Arcade. The owner of Alyce’s Beauty wanted to set up shop in Cremorne, but Lucy decided she wanted to stay in the City.

It wasn’t long before Lucy found a suitable location at 312 George Street and there established City Beauty. When Lucy could find no one suitable to help her, Jocelyn decided to follow in her mum’s footsteps. She soon discovered she loved her new career as a beauty therapist and went from strength to strength, joining City Beauty as a partner with her mother Lucy soon after.

In 1990 Jocelyn did a nail course and starting specialising in all manicures and nail treatments at City Beauty while Lucy looked after the beauty treatments. Under Lucy’s supervision, Jocelyn completed her Beauty Therapy apprenticeship at Ultimo TAFE, Sydney in 1993.

Meanwhile, the fledgling City Beauty was establishing themselves as one of the premier beauty salons in Sydney’s CBD thanks to their friendly, professional service. They soon built up a loyal and growing clientele, many of whom still come today.

In 1994, the mother and daughter team changed the name of City Beauty and the Classic Beauty Centre was born.

After 16 years in George Street, it was time to find a new home. In 2003 Classic Beauty Centre purchased space in 5 Hunter Street, just around the corner from their George Street premises. In May 2004 the new salon opened, creating a great impression.
