Designer Ink is a custom design tattoo studio located in Wantirna South, in Melbourne’s South East, directly opposite the Knox City Shopping Centre.

Our studios are on the first floor directly above Hills Real Estate, each studio is semi private and is equipped with fully adjustable Tat Soul tattoo chairs and 42 inch televisions for your comfort.

Designer Ink is registered with the Knox City Council Health Department and has the latest sterilisation equipment for cleaning and sterlising non-disposable equipment.

Our artists are well respected in the industry and no job is too large or small, so call in and speak to one of our artists and let them design your next tattoo.

At Designer Ink we specialise in custom design tattoos and basic body piercing, come in and spend some time with one of our tattooists and let them design a custom piece of ink for your skin. Our work speaks for itself and can be viewed on on webpage or individual Instagram accounts.

CRAIG – Owner and artist. After working in various studios in the South East suburbs of Melbourne for several years, Craig had a desire to open his own tattoo studio and in September of 2013 Designer Ink opened it’s doors for the first time. MATT – After a couple of years tattooing as a hobby Matt decided to give up his full-time job and commence a career as a tattoo artist, we’re certainly glad he did. Matt’s work speaks for itself and this year in 2016, Matt took out 1st place for “Best Tattoo of the Expo” at the International tattoo Expo held in Melbourne, well done Matt and well deserved. FAQ’s
Below are some common questions we get asked from time to time, hopefully the answers will provide you with some useful information, however if you have any additional questions please don’t hesitate to contact us at the studio 03 8806 4192

HOW OLD DO I NEED TO BE TO GET A TATTOO?
The law in Australia states you must be at least 18 years of age to get tattooed, at Designer Ink we will not Tattoo any person under the age of 18, even if they have parental consent.

HOW MUCH DOES A TATTOO COST?
Tattoos vary greatly in cost as it depends on the style and size of the tattoo, at the time of making your booking our artist will be able to give you a price range for your tattoo.

Each artists hourly rates are listed below and will generally discount these prices for sittings over 3-hours at a time:

Craig – $150 per hour

Matt – $140 per hour

Eden – $120 per hour

Rachael – $80 per hour

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY TATTOO
After getting your tattoo our artist will clean the area, cover it with Bepanthen or Dr Pickles healing cream and then wrap the area in Gladwrap.

Leave the Gladwrap on your new tattoo for at least 2-3 hours, then remove the Gladwrap and wash the area with warm soapy water, let the tattoo breathe for 20-minutes then reapply some healing cream and wrap the tattoo in Gladwrap for a further 24-hours.

Apply healing cream 2 – 4 times per day for two-weeks during the healing process.

Avoid getting direct sunlight on your new tattoo and definitely no swimming or spas while your tattoo is healing.

Please note: some redness, swelling and brusing are common and are no cause for concern, however if you are concerned or experience any issues with your new tattoo please contact us at the studio for advice.

WILL YOU HELP ME DESIGN MY TATTOO
As our name suggest, at Designer Ink we tattoo ciustom designs i.e. we do not have tattoo flashes on our walls for customers to pick from, each tattoo is an individual design just for you.

Our artists will speak with you regarding your ideas and may ask you to bring in some pictures for your consultation. They will then ask you to make a small desposit at the time of your booking so that they can commence designing your unique tattoo, please note the deposit comes off the price of your finished tattoo.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR MY TATTOO TO FULLY HEAL

The healing process will vary from person to person, as a general guide your tattoo should be fully healed within approximately 3-4 weeks depending on the size and detail of the tattoo.

During this time your tattoo will go flakey and will look like it is peeling, this is perfectly normal and is part of the healing process, please ensure you continue to apply healing cream during this process.

At Designer Ink we recommend Dr Pickles, Hustle Butter and Bepanthen First Aid cream.
