Our Therapists

Director/ Exercise Physiologist

Benjamin is the director of Doveston Body Concepts Health Clinic which was established in 2009. Ben has experience as an Exercise Physiologist, Remedial Massage Therapist, Sports Trainer and Strength & Conditioning Coach. Ben actively maintains links with local GP’s, Specialists and Allied Health Professionals. He attends regular conferences and workshops both locally and interstate to ensure the clinics services and practices maintain the highest professional standard. Ben specialises in the treatment of a range of chronic disease, weight management, injury rehabilitation and sports performance training. “I believe that regular exercise prescribed at the right intensity is the key to maintaining and improving general health and overall quality of life. It is so important that it should be prescribed as medicine to our patients.” Qualifications: ESSA Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP), Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Science, Diploma of Remedial Massage, Level 2 Sports Trainer, Level 1 Sports Power Coach, Current Senior First Aid & CPR.

Exercise Physiologist

Denni is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) with Exercise and Sport Science Australia (ESSA). She completed her Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Science degree at the University of the Sunshine Coast and further went on to complete an honours degree in the field of biomechanics. Denni’s passion as an AEP complements her honours degree, which analyses movement patterns. Denni strives to correct inefficiency in the patients she sees and enjoys working with a range of cardiovascular, neurological and metabolic diseases. Denni also specialises in paediatric rehabilitation and is the driving force behind our Kid Fit program. “Exercise is not a chore; it is a tool that we use to keep our body strong throughout life. It is effective in preventing disease and has shown to be valuable in the treatment of most chronic medical conditions. Exercise is medicine.” Qualifications: ESSA Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP), Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Science, Bachelor of Science (Honours), Level 1 Strength and Conditioning Coach, Pilates Instructor, Current Senior First Aid & CPR.

Brooke Welch

Dietitian

Brooke is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian (APD) and a member of the Dietitian’s Association of Australia. She completed her Bachelor degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of the Sunshine Coast. Brooke is a strong advocate for prioritising a healthy lifestyle and has a personal interest in fitness, the outdoors, cooking, good food, her family & friends. Brooke has had an interest in health, fitness and nutrition for as long as she can remember and is highly passionate about helping you reach your health goals. Brooke’s approach involves educating, motivating and supporting patients to implement realistic and practical evidence-based strategies to achieve their nutrition and health related goals. Brooke recognises the importance of providing up to date evidence based nutrition messages and aims to use her skills to help empower people to take charge of their health so they can live a longer, happier and healthier life. Brooke has a special interest in weight management, intolerances (IBS/IBD), heart health and diabetes but is willing to provided dietary advice to most chronic diseases and general health concerns. “I believe we underestimate how much our diet effects our health and wellbeing. The food we eat has the potential to help fight disease or to exacerbate it.” Qualifications: Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics, Accredited Practising Dietitian (AP), Accredited Nutritionist (AN)

Exercise Physiologist

Exercise should be part of a daily routine because exercise is medicine, and is for every single person.”

Sean Boyle

Occupational Therapist

Sean has had quite a varied career in Occupational Therapy so far. Working as a Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator in the mining sector and as a Rehabilitation Case Manager for Injured Worker. Sean also specialises in Occupational Therapy Assessments, Functional Capacity Evaluations and Ergonomic Assessments, with a special interest in Home and Community Access, Paediatrics and Disability Services. Sean is currently serving as an Infantryman in the Australian Army Reserve, which enables him to be well versed in the rehabilitation of defence force men and women, in particular the transitioning from the military to civilian life. Sean regularly attends various Professional Interest Groups and Conferences, to maintain best practice in a large variety of areas in Occupational Therapy. Regan Gillespie

Podiatrist

With today’s aging population and increase in Diabetes and Obesity, the need for podiatrists has never been greater. Working as a podiatrist, Regan has witnessed a rise in chronic disease related foot conditions including Ulcers, Ingrown Toenails, Corns, Callouses and Heel pain. There is a strong need for early intervention and assessment, particularly with Diabetes. Regan holds a Bachelor of Health Science (Podiatry) (Honours) from QUT and has been a practicing Podiatrist for over five years. Regan is experienced in all aspects of Podiatry, including but not limited to: • General foot and nail care (nail cutting, Fungal Infections, Corns, Callouses, Verrucas) • Ingrown toenail management and surgery (with local anaesthetic and phenolisation) • Orthotic therapy (flat feet, heel pain, Neuromas, Bunions) • Injury management (Plantar Fasciitis, Achilles Tendinopathy, Shin Splints, Fracture Diagnosis and Management) • Chronic disease related foot conditions (Foot Ulcers, Heel and Arch pain, Arthritis, Vascular insufficiency) • Diabetic Assessments, Management and treatment • Paediatric Care (in-toeing, out-toeing, Sever’s Disease, Hypermobility) Our clinic is able keep podiatry fees low and offer competitive pricing for consults, ingrown toenail surgery and custom orthotics without compromising on skill and patient care. I pride myself on being a compassionate and dedicated health professional whose priority has and always will be patient satisfaction and care. Regan accepts all referrals, including Team Care Arrangements, Veterans Affairs, Work Cover and private patients. For EPCs we offer bulk billing, and have an onsite HICAPS machine for on the spot health fund claiming.
