Patricia Cumming (Cht, HCBE, CD) is a Clinical Hypnotherapist (registered with AHA), HypnoBirthing® Practitioner (The Mongan Method) and Childbirth Doula (Childbirth International). www.TrishCummingHypnoBirthing.com.au

Trish always remembered being fascinated by babies and how they came into the world and so was really excited on first becoming pregnant in 1999 and then again in 2001.

Unfortunately, both of these births were not what she had envisaged. During her third pregnancy she discovered HypnoBirthing® and the benefits of having a Doula by her side.

This time she laboured and birthed easily and calmly and this made her realise that birth can be the way she had always thought it was meant to be.

HypnoBirthing® (‘hypno’ implies ‘deep relaxation’) is a comprehensive childbirth education program, providing the missing link that allows women to use their natural instincts to bring about a safer, easier birthing.

It is as new as tomorrow and as old as ancient times and is presented in a series of five weekly, 2 1/2 hour classes.

This experience led her to change the direction of her life and in 2006 she became a Certified HypnoBirthing® Practitioner.

Since then Trish has enjoyed working with families as they bring their children into the world.

The use of hypnosis during the HypnoBirthing® classes also intrigued Trish and she became fascinated with the untapped potential of the subconscious mind.

As a Clinical Hypnotherapist she can assist HypnoBirthing® families with issues that are outside the scope of the classroom setting.

This broadens the scope of her practice to include a larger range of issues. Hypnotherapy commonly helps alleviate anxiety, stress, addictions, depression, and PTSD.   It can assist with weight reduction, improving self confidence and infertility as well as many other issues.

Trish has always provided a good sounding board, listening with a compassionate ear and wanting to help people solve their life’s challenges.

Her genuine desire to connect with people needing support, underpins her skill set and she is often told that her calming manner and comforting voice offer reassurance to the wonderful people she has worked with over the years.

Trish says…“I look forward to being by your side as your Hypnotherapist should you need support with life’s challenges…or as your HypnoBirthing® Practitioner for when you are pregnant and choose a birth free of fear…or as your Doula for when you decide that you need hands on emotional support during birth…or maybe all three!  Thank you.”

Education

Tanya has always had a passion for working with people and supporting them to develop awareness of unhelpful patterns that exist in their behaviour.

She has a firm belief that once an individual is aware of these patterns they can begin to manage how they influence their daily life and relationships.

Tanya’s approach has a strong emphasis for providing space and time in the therapeutic context, allowing people time to find the words to describe their experience.

She also places high importance on the relationship with her clients and sees the counselling context as a joint partnership.

Tanya has been working with people in the psychology related field for over 15 years.

This includes working as a youth worker for the Department of Juvenile Justice in Sydney, as a disability support worker in Sydney and Brisbane and a volunteer disaster relief counsellor for women in India following the Tsunami in 2004.

Tanya has also worked extensively in organisations as a career coach, executive coach and a change manager supporting people in the workplace.

This included responsibility for designing people centric approaches to managing organisational restructures where many people were affected by redundancy.

Whilst Tanya enjoyed working with people in organisation and the the unique challenges in this context, she started her private counselling practice in 2009, and after becoming a mother in 2013, her focus has been on working with women during the pre and postnatal period.

Tanya understands the range of emotions women experience before, during and post pregnancy which can sometimes be difficult to manage as bodies undergo significant physical and hormonal changes.

You may wish to contact Tanya to talk about any feelings of stress, worry or sadness during pre-conception, and the perinatal period.

This can also include pressure and relationship changes with your partner, stress associated with fertility, anxiety about the birth, adjustment to the parenting role, and unresolved issues from one’s own past/childhood.
