Fafalina’s Hair Salon

I have always had a love for hair, as a child I was a dancer and performing at eisteddfods and concerts were a common occurrence, this to me meant that I got to play with my hair for all these interesting hairdo’s we used to need to have and I remember always wanting to do everybody’s hair for them but this just wasn’t possible in a changing room filled with girls frantically getting ready for a show.

So as I grew older I found myself applying all my family and friends home hair colours and I thought to myself, hey I could do this for a living I could play with hair all day long and get paid for it and before I knew it I was sweeping floors in our local salon trying to get a foot in the door!

But as a tea and tidy only sweeping floors, this didn’t deter me, as I was able to watch and watch and watch all day long these amazingly creative hair stylists at work.

Before I knew it I had landed myself an apprenticeship with Stefans hair fashions where I completed my 4 year apprenticeship and my 6 year career.

Over my years at Stefan I learned and achieved a lot of things. I was blessed to be a part of Stefans Hong Kong conferences 3 years running for my achievements as Apprentice of the year for 2009 and top 4th year apprentice for 2009, as well as being in the top 5 of my apprenticeship year levels in 2007 and 2008.

Hairdressing has always been a passion of mine and this is why I have decided to venture out on my own with my own salon Fafalina’s where I can spread my love of hair with my clients in a more personal environment.

My background is of Italian decent and the word Fafalina is derived from an Italian word farfalla meaning ‘Butterfly’. The name Fafalina was a nickname given to me by my nonna which came about at a young age.

Nonna saw me as a child that never sat still, that was always “up and down up and down” as she would describe  and a child that would never stop talking and ‘fluttering’ around like a butterfly hence why she called me Fafalina, which was her spin on the Italian word farfalla.
