Reviews

“Had the worst pedicure ever here yesterday… After a bit of cuticle work, filing and a quick scrub with exfoliant the woman proceeded to put my shoes back on and paint my nails. I asked her about moisturising and massage (the whole reason I was even getting a pedicure as I’m very pregnant at the moment) she gave me quite a bit of attitude and was very rude, pushing my feet around bad barely rubbing the moisturiser in. Did a pathetic job, she didn’t even properly exfoliate my heels my feet feel rougher than they did before. Not to mention that as she was painting my nails she made a huge mess and used her own sharp fingernails to tidy up the paint around my cuticles, breaking my skin at one point. Rarely spend money on myself like this and am extremely disappointed. Very overpriced for a pedicure anyway and the horrible service and pathetic final result makes me so angry. Really expected much more for what I paid.

“Such a waste of money. I asked for a new set of acrylics with shellac and they insisted on a refill. My natural nails underneath were filed down and are now completely ruined. The lady took no time in trying to keep the same shape I had. Every single nail looks different, rough and sharp. The shellac is uneven, bubbled and looks like it was slapped on. Thought about going back and asking them to be fixed but the service will probably be just as bad.”

“Really regret going here. Came with a friend and we both left disappointed. I got acrylic nails and not only are they unclean (glue left around nails and cuticles ruined) and some crooked they are quite sore the day after which leaves me to worry they may have damaged my natural nails. Not to mention the service was cold and impersonal. Please avoid this place.”

“The service here is absolutely shocking, incredibly rushed and overpriced ($95 for a manicure and pedicure with shellac). I asked twice for a manicurist to stop because she was causing me pin. They also charged me $30 for shellac removal. Pearl Nails in the MLC Centre is much better!”

“This was my worst nail salon experience EVER. I was with my elderly and very tired mother, and I needed to find somewhere she could rest, but also give her a treat. I asked for a mani/pedi (with shellac manicure ) for mum, and a mani/pedi for me, and gel nails. I will address the issues in order of importance. 1. HYGIENE: Absolutely no hygiene rules at all! The pedi basins are lined with plastic, but nlot washed in between clients. Tools are not washed at all, not even a sterilising spray. NOTHING. They are taken out of the drawers, use- and simply put back in. I had to walk on the floor in bare feet, after the (very poor) pedi. While sticking on the gel tips, I noticed little cuts all over the technicians hands. She was not wearing gloves. I was horrified, and if I was not with my mother, I would have left, right there. 2. DODGY ACCOUTING: Although I was very clear about what I wanted, they kept changing the prices. Once the polish was to be applied, the technician (who also appeared to be the proprietor) demanded payment. This has never happened before, and after asking why, I was told so as not to damage the nail polish. I then pointed out that this is not an issue with gel nails, as they dry in the oven. Oh, no! 20 dollar more!!. I raised an eyebrow, and agreed. When it was all over, I asked for an itemised receipt. They went to great pains to pretend not to understand. I did not relent, and was given a HAND WRITTEN receipt, because stamp broken. The 20 dollar more for shellac (which I have never been charged on gel nails before) was conveniently forgotten about. (the ABN checked out, though) 3. RUDENESS: I have very high tolerance for rudeness. I have an ethnic background myself, and my own culture is considered rude by Western standards. However, this was way beyond any acceptable level. I have large hands, and the technician laughed out loud and informed all the other technicians that I needed the NUMBER 10!!!! The actual words number 10 were said in English, and the rest was in Vietnamese. I normally dont have an issue when other cultures speak their own language- as I said, I come from another culture myself. But this was clearly making a mockery of me. The technician was jumping up every 5 mins to get payment from other clients, usher new clients in, and bark orders at other technicians. The other technicians were very quiet and quite frankly, looked scared. 4. POOR WORKMANSHIP: A different technician did the pedi, fortunately wearing gloves & a mask. She looked like she really hated what she was doing, barely did anything to my feet, and made me question myself if my feet are in fact so disgusting that they are causing the technician to be ill. But no- I noticed that this was her attitude with every client that she worked on, and at the end of the day I dont have warts, infections, bunions or something that would warrant such a reaction. If someone is disgusted by feet (and some people are) then they shouldnt be pedicure technicians. The gel nails have large gaps on the sides, and what seems to be a hair is stuck under the shellac of one nail, another nail is bumpy. The shellac is not shiny. 5. MISSING SMARTBAND: I have a SmartBand Talk SWR30. I was getting notifications on it, as I as getting the pedi. I walked out of the shop, and I tried to look at the time. After a frantic search of the floor and my bag, I returned to the shop. A technician saw me, jumped up and ran to the back. When I told the technician who worked on me, at first she tried to convince me that I never had a watch. The n I told her I was getting notifications on it, and then she said Yes, I remember. Where is it? I said thats what I would like to know. I left this section for last as I really dont know what happened, and I can only make assumptions which may or may not hold water. All I know is that I had a SmartBand when I walked in, and didnt have one when I walked out. Draw your own conclusions. AVOID AT ALL COSTS”

“Absolutely terrible – swore I wouldn’t go back but did as I was in the area and am disappointed with myself…I think they water down their nail polish or something like that, it always chips or comes completely off and I have never experienced this anywhere else, not to this degree.”

“Sometimes is better not to shop around. Especially in this place. I left it shaky, angry and disappointed. I walked in for pedi with shellac and acrylic infills. I received crooked nails, uneven length, misshaped, torn cuticles and $85 bill which I refused to pay in full but hey, who do you want to complain if the manager is on holidays overseas and the staff demands that her time spend on me have to be paid because she’s done her job??? No discount, no apology. I displeasingly paid the bill, I am not a thief. I demanded an itemised till receipt. Guess what? She didn’t even know how to use the register (calling herself a person in charge when manager is not around with “15yrs of experience”) and what I received was a piece of paper with no company name or business number. Just date and time and Cash $85 ( I paid with card). On the top of the receipts it says Thank You and Call Again. Well, No Thanks and I won’t be calling or ever coming back!!”

“Got acrylics done elsewhere and went to Fresh Nails to have my infills done. My existing acrylics were trimmed way too short by the technician – the excuse offered by another technician was that the original tech must not have understood my instructions. The second technician took over from the first to infill my nails and attempt to rebuild the length with the acrylic. The result? Misshapen, hideously thick nails that looked so fake and ugly! Also, they took so long that I was there for 1.5hrs before I finally decided I couldn’t waste anymore time and asked them to stop. Went elsewhere to have their shoddy job removed and redone properly.”
