It was the summer of 1969: Man took his first walk on the moon. Nearly 450,000 people gathered in upstate New York to witness the historic Woodstock concert. And Doris and Don Fisher opened the first Gap store in San Francisco, California with the goal of creating a store experience that was easy for the customer and offered a wide selection of fits and styles.

Reviews

“Nice clothes nice variety ”

“Gap sources the best material. Its garments are well designed and has the highest quality standard as compared to other local brands that uses material thats uncomparable.

For those who really knows the brand, Gap sells itself, its well priced, affordable and it would be amazing if Banana Republic enter the AUS market.”

“Despite being an expensive midmarket clothing franchise, this particular experience was met with the lowest of customer service standards. While attempting to politely gain the attention of the changing room attendants, they were in a very deep conversation about complaining about their shift, their weekend and mocking customers in great detail. After trying on clothes I shrugged the encounter off as people needing to blow off steam. But as I waited in the checkout queue I couldn’t help but notice the checkout staff not greeting or even looking at the customers and just throwing the items in to customers’ bags. Sure enough, he did the same to me and threw my newly bought expensive items in a bag unfolded. In the time I spent in the store no staff behaved well to any customer. Despite my purchase, I don’t feel the need to return to the store or franchise.”

“Compared to the US it’s fairly average. Doesn’t include the other brands or special sizes and is ofter criminally over crowded and missing too many niche sizes.”
