In 1999 we saw the inauguration of the first Germanicos Bespoke tailor house in Melbourne.
Our founder John Tellis’ dream was to build a brand reminiscent of the famous tailor houses of Saville Row In London, England.
At the time you could count the quality bespoke tailors in Melbourne on your one hand, actually still to this day there are only a handful of real bespoke tailors left in Melbourne who can achieve a perfect suit or shirt.
Bespoke tailoring is an art and takes countless years of experience to ensure you have the knowledge to fit each and every body shape perfectly.
The tailors at Germanicos Melbourne are not only in pursuit of the perfect fitted suit or shirt, but also to match the correct fabric to each and every customers skin complexion from our luxurious range of over 6,000 luxurious European fabrics.
We have travelled the world to source the best cloths and are proud to hold the largest range of the most stunning European cloth in Melbourne, from mills such as Dormauil in England and Drago in Italy.
Even then there is more to consider such as the weight of the cloth of the bespoke suit, as the suit may be for summer or winter or to travel to places with extreme temperatures.
Every minute detail will be taken into consideration during your bespoke tailor appointment in our Melbourne bespoke tailor house, right down to the frequency you would like to wear your suit, to ensure you have a suit that outlasts all the others you have ever owned.

“I must say having met Ray for the first time only just over a week a go, I can already tell that these guys don’t do MTM if you buy the Platinum Range!!! It is definitely Bespoke but done a bit differently to say John’s (J.H. Cutler’s) Bespoke Tailored suit making process, now that does not mean that one is better or worse than the other.
Germanicos is far more convenient for me being able to walk across the road to the BHP building to see Ray but if I had to go and see Cutler it’s a week of Annual Leave and accommodation and return flights to Sydney and a more expensive suit at the end of it and I can get the same Bespoke Quality Service from Germanicos here in Perth that I could get from Cutler in Sydney just without a lot of extra costs.
In hindsight I think I should have allowed a minimum of 4 hours to do all of the Fabric Selections and jacket and trouser customizations and measurements because 2 and a half hours has resulted in me having to continually email Roy about things I have forgotten to add at our initial appointment (Sorry Roy!!!).
I’m looking forward to my 3 or 4 fittings to get this Colin Firth Kingsman inspired suit perfect which I know will be. I will definately be getting one of the other suits Colin Firth wore in Kingsman made by Germanicos because Huntsman on Savile Row is a tad out of my reach!!!”
