Hair By Emily K

Emily Kate is a highly certified and qualified hairdresser and has been in the industry for just over a decade.

Starting at the young age of 14 years old, Emily always knew she wanted to be a hairdresser and started out with work experience in a Bay side salon on the Mornington Peninsula, she then was offered her apprenticeship and gained extensive training. Emily also won awardsfor her ‘Colour’ work as an apprentice.

Once qualified Emily wanted to move to Melbourne city where she sought employment. Without haste her talent was recognised by a number of salons enabling her to further develop her skills, gain extensive experience and explicit training. In due course Emily was offered position as manager at an inner Melbourne city hair and beauty salon.

In 2012 Emily decided it was time to go out on her own.

In May 2012 ‘Hair by Emily K’ was born. Emily now works freelance and is based in St Kilda 3 days per week.

Emily K keeps up to date with the latest trends in hairdressing by attending and participating in a vast number of hair and fashion shows, L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Week, education workshops, hair and beauty seminars, photographic competitions, business forums, and attends The Sydney Hair Expo on a regular basis. As well as been fashion forward Emily is always on the lookout for improvement and self-development by actually having that client experience, she does this by attending other Melbourne salons and getting a treatment herself.’ It’s the best way to learn from other people’ she says.

In September 2013 Hair by Emily K hosted a hair and fashion event called EMBELLISH. This show was to show case the talent of hair designers, make up artists, models, up and coming desingers, photographers and other artists. It was such a successful night and plans are in works for a future show.

Emily is also a trained Make-up artist and Certified to train Hairdressing.
