Hair Candy has been operating on the Gold Coast for 7 years now. We started out as a small home business and have grown the business to now having a salon at Hope Island.

Along with providing Hair Extensions services, we also import and wholesale our own brand of Hair Extensions to Hair Salons around the globe. We have Hair Candy representatives in Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

Last year we expanded into the US with salons in California now stocking our Hair Extensions range.

It is our intention to continue to grow the business around Australia and globally.

We have a large client base which includes Australian based models and actors.

We are always on the hunt for new techniques and aim to stay at the forefront of the industry.

This story begins back in 2003 when I was just a little 16yo in Canberra with big dreams and ambitions! I left school (yes, I dropped out of school!) to study make up artistry. Not long after I finished, I realized it was a tough industry for a 16yo girl to break into and decided to look for something more permanent. I began visiting salons and asking if they needed any extra help, and finally after hours of hitting the pavement and many rejections, a salon decided to take me in! From there I was able to study beauty and hairdressing to enhance my skills. After a few years I decided to go back to my make-up roots and took a job working for Napoleon at the local shopping mall. At this time, I began wearing hair extensions thanks to a hairdresser friend of mine, and all of a sudden everyone was complimenting my amazingly long hair and asking if I had extensions! With such a huge demand, I realized this could be an excellent business opportunity. So I enrolled in a specialized in Hair Extensions Course covering many different methods of extensions. From there the demand just kept growing! At this point I decided it was time to fulfill my lifelong dream of moving to Los Angeles and pursuing a career as a hair & make-up artist. I packed my bags and headed for Hollywood! I gave it a go for a few months but realized it’s an extremely tough industry to break into, plus I missed family & friends in Australia! It was a great experience and I learned a lot along the way, as well as making lifelong friends & unforgettable memories. I still visit the US regularly to train salons in our techniques and grow the Hair Candy Empire – I still get my US fix!

Once I returned to Australia, I moved to the Gold Coast & started up a little business called ‘Hair Candy’ I began working from home and increasing my clientele until I had enough to move into a salon in Cavill Ave, Surfers Paradise. The salon was bustling with activity for 2 years in the heart of the Gold Coast! After this, I chose to move the salon to Helensvale as it was a more central location for our Brisbane clients. After 1 year I felt that the location and salon decor didn’t suit the business and the direction that I wanted it to head in. So I decided to move the salon to a bigger, brand new space in the upmarket suburb of Hope Island. This has been an incredible achievement to be able to give our clients a luxurious, comfortable space to enjoy having their hair done. We now offer full hairdressing services along with make up to give you a full make over! It is my goal to grow Hair Candy throughout Australia so that everyone can have long, luscious hair and enjoy the Hair Candy Experience! We also plan to expand to more salons in the United States as the demand for our products grows. I honestly have to say the fact we have a beautiful Gold Coast salon, plus representatives around Australia and the US just absolutely blows my mind! I never imagined in my wildest dreams that I would be where I am today. From small beginnings, I’ve put in hard work and grown beyond what I ever thought was possible.
