What do we do?
Hannans + Associates is a professional accounting practice that specialises in income tax, business services, and financial planning. Some of the services include income tax preparation, business setup, business development and mentoring, SMSF compliance, equipment finance, marketing and website development. Because of our service range and diversity, our clients know that they can rely on our team as a one-stop- shop for finance and business support.
What area do we service?
The Hannans team now operates from several offices based in the south-east Queensland area. Thanks to technology we assist clients all over Australia. We pride ourselves on using online tools such as Email, Skype, DropBox, Xero Accounting Software, & Online Forms so that distance is no barrier.
Who are our clients?
Our clients include both individuals and small-medium businesses. We offer each and every client the same high quality service & attention regardless of size.
What level of service do we provide?
The level of service is tailored to meet the needs of each client. We have some clients who require once-a- year assistance (i.e. income tax returns and financial review). Whilst some other clients may require weekly, monthly or quarterly assistance (bookkeeping, BAS preparation, and other professional advice).
What makes us different?
Our passion and drive to help people. As a boutique sized accounting practice, we take the time to form a long lasting relationship with each and every one of our clients (regardless of size). We have individuals who see us once a year who are surprised that we remember who they are. Of course we remember who you are! This passion and dedication is possibly the reason why we have clients who move interstate or overseas and insist that we continue to prepare their income tax returns.
Customer service. At Hannans we pride ourselves on our team who are fanatical about providing quality customer service. As far as we are concerned, we haven’t completed a job well done unless our clients are raving fans. We take the stress out of tax and money management by taking care of the hard work for you.
Experience and expertise. Our team is very serious about ongoing learning and development. As tax professionals assisting people with financial manners, we know how important it is to “get it right”. This is why we are always striving to be leading experts in our industry (particularly SMSF compliance, business structures, capital gains). This enables us to provide accurate and timely technical advice.

How do we use technology to help you?
Xero. Xero is all about “beautiful accounting” and so are we! Xero is an online cloud based accounting system that allows us and our clients to access business accounts anywhere, anytime. This system assists in removing unnecessary accounting processes and saves our clients time and money.
Dropbox. The use of an online cloud based file storage system allows us efficiently manage our clients accounting documents. This saves our clients from having to mail or hand deliver files to our office.
Paperless office. We pride ourselves on maintain our clients files in an electronic filing system. This allows us to quickly and easily forward client documents, run a more environmentally friendly office, and reduce our storage costs (helping to keep our fees low).
How do we strive for continuous improvement and innovation?
Our firm is committed to ‘going the extra mile’ for our clients. This is why our team engages in ongoing improvement of our systems and is always searching for innovative ways to produce high quality service at affordable prices.
As an example, in 2012 we implemented a new job management system to assist in managing our work in progress. Since the implementation of this new system we have been able to half our job turn around lead time.
The year 2014 will see us add financial planning as an additional service to our clients. The addition of this service by our practice was the result of clients expressing that they wanted their financial planning to be managed by people they know and trust.
How do Hannans give back to the community?
Pro-bono work. We are currently proactively involved in offering pro-bono work to charities which include “Bringing Calyn Home” and “Fire Fighters Cancer Foundation”. This work includes advice on establishment of the charity as well as ongoing assistance with compliance.
Helping those who are experiencing financial hardship. Our team understands that financial issues can cause a person tremendous stress and helplessness. We try to alleviate this stress by offering our services free of charge to those in need.
Assisting local schools and charities. Hannans also offer local non-for-profit organisations compliance services at discounted rates.
Work experience. Our accounting professionals know what it is like to be young and unsure of what career path to take. This is why we take pleasure in providing work experience to a number of local high school students looking into a career in either business or accounting.
