Services

Myotherapy

Myotherapy differs from Remedial Massage through more education on pathologies, bio-mechanical movement patterns, underlying dysfunctions as well as more practice of specific treatment options.  This means a broader understanding of the body and more techniques to draw on to help fix the problem. A thorough functional assessment of the body is done to pinpoint specific muscle imbalances and compensatory patterns.  Then your treatment may include techniques such as dry needling, myofascial cupping, joint mobilisations, muscle energy techniques,  remedial massage (as described below) and corrective rehabilitation exercises.

Remedial

The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons and fascia.  Trigger point therapy is often used to release constricted areas in the muscles –  ultimately alleviating pain.  Trigger points are a small sensitive area indicating a build up of metabolic waste (like lactic acid). They develop in a muscle when it is injured, stressed or overworked.

Techniques aim to stretch and lengthen connective tissue and muscles, reduce pain and discomfort, encourage wellness, relaxation and mobility.

Pregnancy

Massage therapy during pregnancy at Hurstbridge Massage is a healthy way to reduce stress and promote overall wellness.  Massage relieves backaches, swollen legs and ankles, headaches, leg cramps, stiff neck and muscle tension.  Massage promotes less fatigue and greater vitality.  In addition, a pregnancy massage helps relax nervous tension  – which aids in better sleep – and can help relieve anxiety caused by hormonal changes.

Lymphatic Drainage

A specialised technique intended to encourage the natural drainage of the lymph, which carries waste products away from the tissues back toward the heart.  Particularly good for lymphoedema, pre/post surgery, sinusitis/hayfever, scarring, digestive disorders, bronchitis and asthma.
