The Powerful Preventive and Rehabilitative Practice.
The origins of massage are widely debated but this form of therapy is instinctive to man kind. When we hurt ourselves our hands will instinctively rub the injured spot. Touch is the most immediate reaction to pain and soreness. Rubbing the neck is a prime example. It is widely recognised that a baby will not thrive without touch and that a mother’s gentle caress will soothe and calm the baby. As a form of stress relief massage is second to none. Whatever the origin of massage, it has been used for centuries by every culture in one form or another.
At Innersense Day Spa and Wellness Centre we are blessed to have two amazing massage therapists in Kim and Zarah, who offer a variety of massages. Both ladies are highly qualified and have years of experience.
Indian Head Massage
45 minutes – $65.00
Indian Head Massage is a gentle, safe and non-invasive form of massage which can be performed with the client fully clothed and in the seated position. It is ideal for people who are ‘desk bound’ and suffer from neck, head, back and/or shoulder discomfort. Feel the tension drain from your body as the massage therapist works on your upper back, shoulders, neck and head. No oils are used during Indian Head Massage.
Remedial Massage
½ hour – $50.00 1 hour – $80.00 1 ½ hour – $110.00
Everyone, whatever your age, can benefit from Remedial Massage. With today’s hectic lifestyles we all tend to carry injuries and tensions without giving them the attention they deserve. A client recently said, “I didn’t know how much I needed that massage until I had it”.
Remedial massage treats muscular, joint and stress related problems by deep tissue manipulation which in turn increases blood flood to assist with the rehabilitation process.
Health fund rebates are available on Remedial Massage only.
Aromatherapy Massage
½ hour – $50.00 1 hour – $80.00
Aromatherapy doesn’t just smell good, it is good for you. The sense of smell is powerful; in fact, the nose can distinguish 10,000 different scents. As scents are inhaled they travel across the nerves inside the nose and then to the part of the brain that controls our mood, our memory and our ability to learn. This area is called the Limbic System and when stimulated it releases endorphins and other ‘feel good’ chemicals. The use of essential oils is what gives that feeling of total relaxation and renewal. An aromatherapy massage is a great way to reap the benefits of topical application of essential oils along with the soothing therapeutic benefits of massage. Essential oils are at the hear tof Aromatherapy and have been beneficial in; improving skin tone, regulating hormones, relieving menstrual cramp, improved sleep and much more.

Pregnancy Massage 1 Hour – $80.00
Pregnancy massage shares many of the goals of regular massage – to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulationand mobility, and just make you feel good. But it’s also tailored specifically to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies, and both of our therapists are trained in this technique.
Most women find it uncomfortable to lay face down right from the start of pregnancy because of their tender, swollen breast and you can’t lie face down on a traditional massage table once your tummy has started to grow. On the other hand, it’s not a good idea to lie flat on your back either, particularly once you’re past mid-pregnancy, because the weight of your uterus puts too much pressure on the vein that returns blood from your legs to your heart.
For these reasons we use a special table with hollowed-out areas and special pillows to accommodate your tummy and breast so you can lie face down.If you find this position stresses your lower back, you can lie on your side with pillows, wedges, or a full-length body pillow for support.
Reflexology ½ Hour – $60.00
Reflexology is a complementary therapy that involves the application of pressure to specific points, known as reflexes, on the feet and hands to encourage the body to heal from within. The therapy is based on the principle that the feet and hands contain ‘mini-maps’ of the whole body and that by applying pressure using the fingers or thumbs a reflexologist can have apositive effect on the corresponding parts of the body.
The right foot/hand corresponds to the right hand side of the body and the left foot/hand to the left hand side of the body. Parts of the body that are found on both sides, such as the kidneys, will have corresponding reflexes on both feet/hands whereas parts of the body that are found on just one side are only represented by the foot/hand on that same side. For example, the heart reflex is found on the left foot only.
Reflexology is a holistic therapy and treats the person as a whole rather than just focusing on a set of symptoms. Holistic therapies take the emotional and spiritual being into account as well as the physical.
Most people tend to associate the feet with reflexology, however reflexology also works on the hands. Hand reflexology is often used as a self-help tool. One thing is clear, reflexology is so much more than a simple foot rub or hand massage, it is a powerful therapy which has been shown to have a very positive effect on health and wellbeing. When a part of the body is not working at its best, a sensitive area will be found in the corresponding part of the foot or hand when pressure is applied to it. By working over sensitive reflexes through a number of reflexology treatments the tenderness will usually reduce as the body begins to function properly again as it reaches homeostasis.
Reiki 1 hour – $80.00
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.
Lymphatic Drainage Massage 1¼ hour – $100.00
Developed in the 1930s, lymphatic drainage is a delicate form of massage that stimulates the body’s lymphatic system, improving the metabolism, helping the body to eliminate waste and toxins and providing a boost to the immune system.
The lymphatic system is responsible for helping fluid and waste leave the body and for regulating the immune system. When the lymphatic system becomes blocked, fluid builds up and stagnates, causing the entire system to become toxic, making us feel sluggish and more susceptible to viral or contagious diseases.
By stimulating this system through massage, it works more efficiently, which in turn boosts the immune system, clears blockages, eliminates toxins, transports nutrients to cells and increases the metabolism.
Lymphatic drainage massage is especially useful for individuals who seem to suffer regularly from common illnesses like colds and flu. It is also recommended for people who lead sedentary lifestyles, or those who want to reduce puffiness or swelling. It has been cited as having a positive effect on problem skin, cellulite, dysfunctional respiratory systems and people with low energy.
