Here at INPAT Accounting, the entire team are committed to helping you ‘Realise Your Business Potential’.  In fact, that’s been our focus since the practice was established several decades ago under the guidance of our Principal, Alan Elphinstone. From the start he set about creating an accounting practice that could successfully support the taxation, business and financial planning needs of small business owners.

ALAN ELPHINSTONE
Principal

With 25 years Accounting experience in public practice and 50 yrs experience in business, Alan has just about seen it all.
Alan first started working as a buyer for Myers where he learnt the importance of inventory control, budgeting and the benefits of recognising your errors early. Staff management and merchandising were high priorities when Alan moved into the sales department.

The store administration sector is where Alan learnt how to read reports and use history to predict the future. Having spent 25 years in this retail sector, Alan decided that the accounting side of business was what he really loved so he then completed his Certificate of Accounting and started working in Brisbane with a CPA firm.

After 3 years working for another firm Alan decided to start his own business in 1992 from his home garage. His experience and education has taught him that if his business was going to work, it had to be planned, so he planned finances, positions and staffing for 10 years and stuck to that plan. Twenty two years later INPAT Accounting is still going strong.

Alan’s passion is to help business owners understand their total business. “It’s so much more than just compliance work. It’s marketing, stock control, mark ups, budgeting and most importantly, it’s about putting food on your table, clothes on your back and a safe roof over your family’s head.”

When not running, Alan enjoys spending hours looking for the perfect photo, many of these are displayed throughout the office.

JACK STOREY
Accountant 

Jack was born and raised on a farm in Central Queensland and gained his education in Brisbane. After completing school, Jack joined one of the large Chartered Accounting firms in the city and gained valuable experience before heading back home to Central Queensland.

After completing his professional qualifications, Ja ck established his own suburban Accounting practice in Brisbane. With over 50 years experience in public accounting he has assisted many clients with their tax problems, management accounting, cash flow issues and he has also provided extensive advice to clients starting a business and buying an investment property.

Since joining INPAT Accounting in 2007, Jack has been a valuable member of the team with his attention to detail, kind nature and friendly manner.

Jack is a proud family man and enjoyed playing most sports in his younger years and has been involved in coaching of junior sporting teams. He now enjoys being a spectator at his grandchildren’s various sporting events. He is an avid Broncos supporter, cricket fanatic and all round sporting enthusiast who can often be found on the weekend playing a round of golf with his son.

JAMIE TAN
Accountant

Jamie has been with the INPAT team since early 2013 following his graduation from University of Queensland.

While his current focus is on taxation and financial reporting, he is also very interested in technology and marketing. Jamie is always happy to chat about your marketing plan and/or how technology can enhance your business. He understands small business, having previously managed a retail store and operated as a sole trader.

Originally from Singapore, Jamie has called Australia home for the past 12 years and he brings to the team a bubbly personality and bilingual language skills (fluent in both English and Mandarin).

Jamie is a passionate soccer fan and keeps fit by running with his wife and going to the gym.

VANESSA
Practice Manager

Vanessa has over 10 years experience in the accounting industry and has been with INPAT Accounting since 2004. She oversees the day to day operations of the firm and is responsible for the work flow within the firm. She assists in the preparation of client BAS’s and income tax returns as well as being our ATO liaison officer dealing with a wide range of client issues.

Vanessa is the first point of call for many clients, helping them with bookkeeping, their MYOB files and general daily hurdles of their business.

When not in the office, Vanessa enjoys reading, experimenting in the kitchen and spending time with her friends and family.

WHITNEY
Client Services Assistant
Since joining the firm in 2007, Whitney has been a very important member of the team being the ‘Director of First Impressions’ handling all the reception duties.

Whitney’s role includes finalising and collating income tax returns, ASIC and ATO lodgements and client appointments along with the firms data base, filing and scanning as we work towards becoming a paperless office.

Outside of work, when not at a Broncos game, Whitney enjoys spending time with her friends and family and spoiling her 15 nieces and nephews.
