The Jimmy Rod’s Barbershops aren’t just places to get a cut and shave, they are a modern-day oasis of authentic masculinity, camaraderie and style.
Back in 2003, Jimmy Rod started the first shop in his chain of barbershops where men could come in to get a slick haircut and sharp sides.
But he also wanted to create a place where men could relax, socialise, exchange jokes and chill out.
Bringing expert skills and traditional barbershop values back to the forefront, Jimmy Rod has provided a service that men didn’t even realise they had been missing.
The man behind the brand is Jimmy Rod himself, a guy who discovered his passion for barbering and just went for it.
Not seeing the value in staying on in school when he clearly knew what he wanted to do, he was offered an apprenticeship and grabbed the opportunity.
Fast forward 12 years and you can see the results of his self-belief and hardworking ethics — nine barbershops, a team of talented barbers and a name that is beginning to become synonymous with style and swag.
Add to that, he has inspired a loyalty in customers that is rarely seen today.

“I went to the store located at the kitchens in Robina town centre and got my cut done by Annika. First up I must say not only was my haircut the best I’ve had but the experience was absolutely fantastic. Annika’s technique and knowledge was top class and while I was also modelling to show some of her staff her techniques she also provided a brief background history also into products. I hope that the owner of the store reads this and recognise how lucky they are to have such a person working the store and pass this feedback through to her. Brilliant! I will now be going to this store only even if I have to travel 1 hour to get to it.”
“Went to the Adelaide Street Jimmy Rods with my husband as the one in Albert was closed. The female who thought she was too cool to trot hacked at his hair, used adjectives such as dope and whack and kept calling my husband Boss which is the height of rudeness and absolutely patronizing. I have never seen such a bad job done on my husband hair. He was too polite to say anything and when I asked her to correct her mistakes, she was rude and said to my husband ‘happy wife, happy life’ and told him off by saying ‘I asked you!! I only cut the hair, Man!’ Well! You don’t cut hair well, do you, Girl!! My son and husband frequents Johnny Rods every 4 weeks, you’ve lost us. Like your employee says, you’re whacked!”
“Normally great but this time not happy at all with Northlakes. Hair cut and beard trim. Hair is great but beard reduced down to glorified stubble. I wish they asked how short to go before deciding to change my look. If you go make it clear what you want otherwise they may decide for you. And with hair length you can’t go back once it has been cut. beards and hair take time to grow and sometimes don’t look great while they do. Makes it really hard to fix your mistake if I have to look professional. And takes lots of time to do so.”
“3rd time I had my haircut at the barracks on Petrie Terrace, I asked the barber for Mohawk, textured and messy, #3 trimmer back and sides with a strip down the back of my head. Same haircut I always ask for. He took the trimmer all way around the back and sides. And styled it nothing like what I asked for I wasn’t going to say anything but now my hair has grown back a little it looks terrible.”
