After training in London in the 1950s, Jon moved to Australia in 1961 and quickly started attracting clients from all over Queensland.

The first Jon Le Court salon opened in Brisbane in the early 1970s and soon after the business grew to major shopping centres throughout Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast.

Later the group expanded to 45 salons in locations including Townsville, Rockhampton, northern NSW, and the Sydney suburbs of Chatswood, Hurtsville, Miranda Fair and Parramatta.

“Just wanted to let you know that your carindale store at 5pm today turned away a customer because the staff member said they have pretty much shut and it’s been a very tiring day!!!! I was only after a men’s short hair cut that usually takes about 20 min. I am very surprised that they turned away business. The 3 of them didn’t look very busy just leaning on the counter. So disappointing. I’m sure you would never want to turn away $$$ especially when there is so much competition around these day.”

“Just walked into your mt Gravatt store at 4:50 and was told that they had closed off the tills and couldn’t take any further customers even though it closes at 5:30. No other clients in store and they didn’t have time to do a 8yr old boy haircut. 3 staff standing around doing nothing and turning away paying customers. Won’t be returning to mt Gravatt to stylist ash and the other two. Walked 20mtr down and gave my money to another hairdressing company”
