Jubilee Sports Physiotherapy is an established centre of excellence in the provision of sports, occupational and general physiotherapy in the Sutherland Shire.
Established in 1995 the practitioners at Jubilee Sports Physiotherapy have developed a reputation as leaders in all aspects of injury management and rehabilitation.
We specialise in biomechanical analysis and provide hands-on individually tailored treatments with an exercise-based rehabilitation regime. We have a strong commitment to ongoing professional development and practice the most current and proven treatments available.
Having worked with athletes from numerous sports and all levels of ability from World Champions to “weekend warriors” every Jubilee Sports Physiotherapy client will receive the highest standard of care.

Our Team
Kieran Rooney
BAppSc (Phty) (Hons)
Kieran Rooney is the founding principal of Jubilee Sports Physiotherapy. Kieran has over 18 years of musculoskeletal and sports related physiotherapy experience.
He graduated from Sydney University with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy with Honours in 1993. Kieran has lectured extensively to sports physicians, physiotherapists, coaches and athletes on a variety of topics relating to injuries and effective injury management throughout Australia and abroad. His research has been published in international journals and he regularly partakes in student supervision during clinical placements at Jubilee Sports Physiotherapy from a variety of Universities.
Kieran has had extensive experience with sporting teams and associations at all levels of competition and in a variety of sports; including six seasons as head physiotherapist to the St George Dragons Rugby League FC in the NRL, and physiotherapist to the Cronulla Sharks Rugby League FC, Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs Rugby League FC and the Sydney Kings in the NBL. Kieran’s regular clientele include multiple Olympic and Commonwealth Games gold medallists and members of both the Australian Cricket team and Australian Socceroos squad. He remains a long standing accredited service provider to the New South Wales Institute of Sport as a physiotherapist, working with the state’s elite athletes and coaches.
As a keen footballer himself, having played at state level for a number of years, Kieran has a particular interest in football related rehabilitation, injury management and performance enhancement. He has been the head physiotherapist and rehabilitation coordinator to the Sutherland Sharks FC since 2006 in the NSW Premier League and in 2012 was appointed as a physiotherapist by Football Federation of Australia and consultant physiotherapist to JEF United in the Japanese Football League. In 2013, Kieran was appointed physiotherapist to the Australian Qantas Socceroos, a role which involves his attendance at football tournaments and training camps, both domestic and internationally. In July 2013, he attended the EAFF East Asian Cup with the squad in Seoul, Korea and in July 2014, traveled with the squad to the U20s NTC Invitational tournament held at US Soccer’s National Training Centre in Carson, California. More recently, Kieran was appointed physiotherapist to the Australian Olyroos.
Kieran has a particular enthusiasm for biomechanics and its relations to injuries, rehabilitation and return to sport and/or work. He has particular expertise in injuries of the shoulder, as well as the spine, groin and lower limb.
Kieran is currently undertaking extensive work in the area of occupational physiotherapy, work related injury and return to work programs and has held appointments as a physiotherapist to a number of national and multi-national corporations for over a decade, including Xstrata Coal, Glencore, AMCOR, BHP, Coles, Myer and Australia Post.
Michael Gabriel
BAppSc (Phty) (Hons)
Michael Gabriel graduated from Sydney University with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2000 and was awarded First Class Honours and the University Medal. Michael’s research on sports stretching featured in the British Medical Journal and the Australian Journal of Physiotherapy.
Michael joined Jubilee Sports Physiotherapy in 2001. In 2002 he moved to the UK where he took up a number of appointments in the British National Health Service as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist and student educator. Whilst in the UK, Michael was also appointed as a physiotherapist by Fulham FC for three seasons in the English Premier League. During this time in the UK he worked with leading British authorities in the field of medicine and rehabilitation.
On returning to Australia, Michael returned to Jubilee Sports Physiotherapy and has since become a principal at the practice.
As a keen footballer and football enthusiast himself, Michael has a particular interest in football related injury management, rehabilitation and performance enhancement. His appointment at Fulham FC helped pave his way into the NSW Premier League where he has been the head physiotherapist and rehabilitation coordinator to the Sutherland Sharks FC since 2006. In 2013, Michael was elected to assist in the coverage of the Australian Qantas Young Socceroos, a role which involve attendance at domestic training camps and matches. More recently he was appointed physiotherapist to the Australian Futsalroos. Michael is also an accomplished swimmer having competed at state and national levels for a number of years, which has spurred his interest and study of swimming biomechanics, injuries and rehabilitation.
Michael has particular interest in lumbar spine, pelvis and hip related injuries. He has extensive experience in muscle energy techniques, re-training functional core stability and control, especially in the sporting community, and back and pelvic dysfunction. His specialty in the diagnosis and rehabilitation of lumbar-pelvic and hip region injuries not only assists athletes to recover from chronic and lingering pains and to optimise performance during their sporting careers, but demonstrates remarkable results in the general community on those suffering from longstanding pains and aches of the hip and lumbar spine.
In 2015, Michael was successfully appointed as a casual physiotherapist by Cricket NSW to provide sports coverage at domestic camps and competitions throughout Australia to their U17/U19 ACT/NSW County teams.
In contrast to his high level sporting appointments, over the past 10 years Michael has taken on work in the area of occupational physiotherapy and has held appointments as a physiotherapist to a number of national and multi-national corporations including AMCOR, Coles, Myer and Australia Post.
James Pearce
BAppSc (Phty)
James Pearce graduated from Sydney University with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2008.
James joined Jubilee Sports Physiotherapy on completion of his First Year Graduate program at St George Hospital, which encompassed all areas of physiotherapy including orthopaedics, musculoskeletal outpatients and hydrotherapy.
James has an enthusiasm for football and football related rehabilitation and injury management stemming from six years of playing in the NSW Super League, representing both the Rockdale City Suns FC and Sydney University. James was the physiotherapist to the Sutherland Sharks FC in the NSW Premier Youth League for seasons 2010-2012 and toured to China with the Central Coast Mariners youth squads in 2010.
For a number of years James represented Campbelltown City Quake Futsal Club in the NSW Futsal Premier League Competition and has been selected in both the NSW and Australian representative squads. He continues to play football for Lilli Pilli FC in the SSFA AL1 competition where he has successfully achieved a number of Premiership titles.
Late in 2012, James moved to the UK to pursue international experience as a physiotherapist. Whilst in the UK James took up a number of appointments in the British National Health Service as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist where he gained valuable experience working with pain specialist teams.
In 2014, James was fortunate enough to attend the 23rd International Football Conference run in conjunction with FIFA in Milan. The 3 day conference was attended and lectured by some of the leading doctors, physiotherapists and researchers from across Europe and America including many physicians from clubs such as AC Milan, Barcelona, Real Madrid and the English FA.
James returned to Jubilee Sports Physiotherapy in April 2014, where he was once again appointed physiotherapist to the Sutherland Sharks FC in the NSW Premier Youth League and has since been elected to assist in the coverage of the senior Sharks FC squads in the NPL.
More recently, James has taken on work in the area of occupational physiotherapy and holds an appointment as a physiotherapist to Glencore at Tahmoor mine and Kelloggs.
Jason Skyllas
BHlthSci DPT (Doctor or Physiotherapy)
Jason Skyllas graduated from Sydney University with a Bachelor of Health Science in 2012. In 2015 he completed postgraduate studies at Macquarie University and was awarded a Doctor of Physiotherapy. His research evaluated conservative management of osteoarthritis.
On completion of his research, Jason joined Jubilee Sports Physiotherapy.
As a passionate footballer, past representative of West Sydney Berries in the NSW Premier League and State Cup and Premiership winning member of the 2015 Lilli Pilli FC side, Jason has developed a keen interest in football related injury management and rehabilitation. In 2015, he was appointed as a physiotherapist to the Sutherland Sharks FC Youth League in the NSW Premier League.
Jason has gained valuable musculoskeletal and sporting experience working with St George FC in the NSW Premier League, as well as Football NSW at State Titles competitions. As a student, he also spent time working as a volunteer massage therapist for Sydney FC A-league and Youth League squads.
Over the past 3 years Jason has assisted in the co-ordination and coaching of Little Kickers – Sutherland Shire, a role that he plans to retain.
In 2015, Jason spent a month volunteering at Hakuba Physio, Japan, where he gained valuable experience in acute snow sports related management.
More recently, Jason has taken on work in the area of community aged care rehabilitation and holds an appointment as a physiotherapist to HammondCare.
