In brief, our owner Scotty has been an entrepreneur in tourism since he left school in 1995. He has owned and operated cultural tours, youth hostels, online travel agencies and tourism publications…and now a tourist vessel. He has been visiting GKI since 1995 where he first met Geoff Mercer, who at the time was also operating in the YHA network on the island. The two have had a connection since and have tried on a number of occasions to work together in providing the best experience for visitors to Keppel.
After years of conversations and dreams, Scotty sold up and packed up from the Byron region and made the move to invest in the one thing that would really open up the ultimate “Keppel experience” – an explorer vessel to handle most sea conditions in comfort and safety and provide visitors an easy opportunity to really discover the Keppel Island’s beauty and secrets from the water.
