The Benefits of Massage.

Massage therapy is relaxing, and it certainly feels good, but there are many benefits to massage of which you may not be aware of.

Massage increases blood circulation to supply oxygen and nutrients to the muscles, tissue, joints, and the vital organs throughout the body.

This helps muscles recover more quickly from exertion and fatigue (especially useful after a strenuous workout or repetitive action), and helps to relieve the pain and discomfort associated with muscle tension, fractures, sprains, sciatica, and stiff joints.

Massage therapy aids in the relief of muscle spasms and cramping and helps in the prevention of muscular atrophy.

Massage therapy also helps break up scar tissue and is especially useful in the breakup of post surgical adhesions and edema. It promotes a greater range of motion in joints and keeps ligaments and tendons supple.

It lowers blood pressure and heart rate and reduces stress anxiety, insomnia, and depression. As massage helps reduce not only physical, but mental stress, it is often recommended as part of a regular program for stress management.

“Every person’s body responds differently to different treatments so I utilise a variety of techniques and methods determining the best remedy suited to a particular client.”

Treatments

Remedial Massage

When muscles and tendons become damaged or impaired, knotted and tense or immobile, Remedial Massage provides a healing treatment that can be gentle or strong, deep or shallow. Remedial massage holistically treats the whole body and traces the discomfort as far as possible back to the original cause, healing both the cause of the disorder as well as the symptoms.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger point therapy is a bodywork technique that involves the applying of pressure to tender muscle tissue in order to relieve pain and dysfunction in other parts of the body.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a massage technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the fibre’s of the muscles, tendons and fascia.

Sports Massage

A technique used for injury prevention, pre and post-sports events. Here massage aids in preparation and recovery, flexibility, endurance and increased performance.

Lymphatic Drainage

The lymphatic system is essential as the body’s drainage system for cleansing and filtering out of bacteria and toxins. Unblocks congested lymph pathways that can cause soreness, aches, pains and flu-like symptoms. Performed in a series of a full detoxification cleanse program, this form of massage helps the body to heal itself from many common maladies. As with most massage, it‘s vital to drink lots of water after lymphatic massage.

Pregnancy Massage

Uses a combination of Swedish and Remedial Massage techniques, to assist with the tensions and pains experienced during pregnancy. These are often caused by the extra weight and shift in the centre of gravity. There are many physical benefits to Pregnancy Massage, in addition to the nurturing and emotional support provided by Mark. Massage reduces peripheral swelling, soothes the nervous system, helps to prevent insomnia, muscle cramps and back pain.

Dry Needling / Acupuncture

Useful modality to provide pain relief and assist injury rehabilitation. Most commonly back pain. However, acupuncture can be used to treat nearly all sources of muscle and joint pain and myofascial dysfunction. Dry needling or intramuscular stimulation (IMS) is a technique extremely effective for relaxing overactive muscles, which contain trigger points.

Relaxation Therapy

A classic form of full body massage that relaxes the body, improves muscle tone, and stimulates circulation, providing feelings of tranquillity and heightened well-being.

Stress Management

When pressure exceeds one’s perceived ability to cope not only causes tension, tight muscles and pain throughout the body, but is mentally challenging and tiring. Nurturing and emotional support will lead to improvement in stress and reduce tension. Talk to Mark about a Stress Management Program.

Kind Regards Mark Celano”

“Best therapist out of my 25 years experience with therapists. Mark understands the body and has studied several types of massage, so when you see him he doesnt use just one type of technique, as most others would; he combines the necessary elements from various therapies to ensure he relieves the pain. Ive found some therapists dont have the ability to do a proper deep tissue massage and certainly not for the duration of your appointment Mark is fantastic, and is more than capable. I highly recommend him and despite me now living an hour away, Ill continue to see him. Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.”

“He knows about body. Best massage therapist among all the therapist that I have tried. Good to have a good massage therapist near my home.”

“I endured back pain for weeks and had seen many massuers and osteopaths. In a couple of treatments Mark relieved my pain and gave me many tips on posture and stretching exercises. Thanks Laura.”
