Your Resource for Choosing Plumbers the Smart Way

Welcome to Response Emergency Plumbing, the no-nonsense blog that’s got all you need to know on the local plumbing industry, how to choose the tradesperson who’s right for your job, and how to interpret all that jargon they throw around while working on your property.

We started writing this blog after noticing that there was a lot of confusion and contradiction amongst plumbing clients – not just regular householders, but commercial clients too.

Some people weren’t sure what kind of qualifications and licensing were necessary in order to become a plumber in Victoria, some people weren’t sure what to do when faced with emergency plumbing situations, and nearly everyone was unsure about why plumbing work costs as much as it does! We’ve attempted to answer the most commonly asked questions in our articles, but if we’ve missed anything out, feel free to contact us and suggest a new topic.

In addition to basic FAQs and information about emergency plumbing, we’ve got a range of great ideas for making sure your bathroom looks good, is easy to use, and is environmentally sustainable.

These days, there are so many great options when it comes to water efficiency and hot water costs – not to mention the fact that bathroom renovations are an incredibly popular way to update your home! We also feature articles on related lifestyle ideas and topics from time to time.

So next time you need an emergency plumber, take a quick look through our resources first – it may save you hundreds!

Services

It is usually the case that a homeowner doesn’t give their plumbing a thought until a major disaster calls for emergency plumbing.

However, there are many tell-tale signs that you may have a plumbing problem that you can look out for to avoid major disasters. If caught early enough, you can avoid those costly repair prices and headaches.

Here are some of the main things you should keep an eye out for in your home:

Leaking taps

A dripping tap may not seem like a problem but can actually be wasting a significant amount of water each week, which can result in higher water bills.

A small leak can also be a sign of other plumbing problems that may need to be addressed. If you are unable to stop the leaking yourself or believe it may be linked to a bigger problem, get in touch with a plumber as soon as possible.

Drain issues

If your sinks or bath are taking too long to drain, it is most likely caused by a blockage. Common blockages are hair (in the bathrooms) or food particles (in the kitchen).

There are some products you can purchase yourself to unblock drains, however these are not always effective and can actually damage your pipes over time.

If you have a stubborn block that needs clearing, a plumber has a quick and easy solution for this.

Decreased water pressure

This can occur though all of your taps or certain areas throughout the home. A drop in water pressure could be a sign of problems with your water main or simply a matter of mineral build up in the tap or shower head.

As it can also indicate a water leak it is important to find the cause quickly to reduce your chances of making the matter worse.

Damp or stained ceilings/walls

A damp or stained ceiling and roof may be an indication of a leak in the roof or may be associated with your plumbing.

As you cannot see the issue it can be causing more damage than you realise, try and assess what the cause of the leak is in order to contact the right person to help.

Leaks that start to affect walls and ceilings can cause mould which is extremely difficult to get rid of once it starts.
