Lisa is a fully qualified Vodder therapist.

Lisa Higgins is a Remedial Massage therapist who offers Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Lymph Taping, Low Level Laser Therapy, Remedial Massage, Craniosacral Therapy and the Emmett Technique. She has been practicing since 2006 in both Sydney and Dubai. She is a member of the Editorial Committee of the Australasian Lymphology Association, helping produce the Lymph Express, the magazine of the ALA.

Her specialty is working with cancer patients post treatment to help reduce the effects of lymphoedema.

Lisa completed a Lymph Taping workshop in November 2016, adding another treatment modality to her tool box. Lisa qualified as a Vodder therapist with a certification in Manual Lymph Drainage and Combined Decongestive Therapy in August 2013. She re-certified in April 2015, keeping up-to-date with the latest research and finessing her technique further.

Lisa attended the ALA Lymphodema Conference 2016 in Darwin, where she attended lectures on the latest research on lymphoedema and it’s treatment from researchers, surgeons and lecturers from around the world.

She purchased an LTU-904 low level laser in June 2013, which she uses during her lymphoedema treatments. The laser light penetrates into the tissue at a cellular level to re-energise the cells, making them more active, which helps to break up fibrous tissue and enhances blood and lymphatic flow. This helps to reduce scar formation; reduce pain and inflammation; decrease fibrosis; increase epithelial activity and capillary blood vessel formation. The LTU-904 has been trialled in a randomised double blind study at Flinders University and been proven to help reduce the effects of lymphoedema. It can also be used on muscles to reduce soreness and speed up recovery.

She has volunteered with Life Spring, a charitable service for patients with chronic or life threatening illness – visiting Manly Waters Private Hospital to work with both palliative and rehabilitation patients.

Lisa donates monthly to B1G1 – $1 from every massage is donated towards Employing a Mobile Clinic’s Patient Attendant in Kenya.
