About Us
Bo Li is the Women’s Health Physiotherapist and a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist at Live Life Physiotherapy.
Bo takes the time with her clients to go through their pelvic floor issues and their goals with the required sensitivity. Many women can be quite uncomfortable talking about what can be seen as a “hush” subject. Bo understands this and is dedicated to keeping the session as relaxed as possible to minimise the anxieties that can be present. Her assessment of each patient is very thorough and includes a vaginal assessment and/or anal assessment if it is required. State of the art equipment is used in her new rooms at Bella Vista.
Whether it is pain in the back, shoulder, hip or anywhere in the body, Bo can assist you in getting back to your normal daily life. Bo has passion about observing how the body works. By looking at your movements, postures, strength and flexibility (or lack there of!!) Bo can develop a unique treatment regime just for your body to optimise how your muscles, joints and nerves work together.
Bo graduated at the University of Sydney Health Campus in 2002. Her work experience has included working at a women’s health clinic, St Joseph’s Hospital specialising in rehabilitation as well as private practices. She has also been an orthopaedic senior physiotherapist at St Vincent’s Private Hospital in Darlinghurst. Her training in women’s health started at the Royal Women’s Hospital at Randwick. She is a member of the Women’s Health Training Associates which specialises in training of pelvic floor issues and is a member of the Continence Foundation of Australia. She continues to attend advanced pelvic floor education courses, regular educational updates and seminars. In the past she has given presentations on bladder and bowel health and continues to be passionate about educating the public in optimising their health.

Bo is incredibly passionate about raising awareness of these widespread women’s health issues that are poorly understood both in the medical community and in the public at large.
Services
Stress Incontinence – If you leak with coughing, sneezing, laughing, standing up, running, starjumps, trampolining you may have stress incontinence. Physiotherapy can make you dry if you have mild leakage. If you have moderate or severe leakage physiotherapy can reduce your leakage. If you are considering surgery for this issue, it is still a good idea to have physiotherapy before and after surgery. This is so the surgery is supported by the muscles and therefore prolong and optimise the effectiveness of the surgery.
Overactive Bladder – If you have to rush to the toilet (whether you leak or not) you may have an overactive bladder. Do you know every toilet that exists in the places you go? This is often “put up with” by women as a normal part of life but is in fact very treatable through physiotherapy. Strategies can be given to deal with the rush to the toilet so you do not leak. Physiotherapy can also take away the urgency to the toilet. Don’t wait. Get your life back. Do not be ruled by your bladder! Seek help now!
Pelvic Pain and or Dyspareunia – Do you have pain in your pelvic floor sometimes or with sexual intercourse? Do you have vaginismus? Or a “vague” feeling in the pelvic region that is hard to describe that no doctor has been able to tell you why you feel this way? You may have an overactive pelvic floor. There are some people for different reasons who pull up their pelvic floor and develop tension in their muscles of the pelvic floor. Instead of holding stress in your shoulders, some people hold it in their pelvic floor. Live Life Physiotherapy can treat this. Make an appointment now.
Prolapse – Do you have a dragging sensation or a heaviness in your pelvis. You may have a prolapse. Bo can help with commencing an pelvic floor exercise program to help reduce the prolapse or relieve the symptoms of prolapse. There may be things in your lifestyle that may be making your prolapse worse. Education can be given to ensure you are limiting those activities. You may also need good advice about what exercises are safe for your pelvic floor whether it is exercises at the gym or your hobbies. A pessary may also be appropriate in helping your prolapse. See “Pessary fitting” section.
Pessary fitting – Bo is able to fit pessaries for people with prolapse or incontinence. This can be an alternative to surgery or when you want to delay your surgery. For example, if you have not yet finished your family or want to go travelling and want symptom relief in the mean time, a pessary may be a good option for you. Come to someone who is gentle with your fitting. Or come to ask any questions about it to see if it is truly for you.
Perineal Tear – If you have suffered a tear having a vaginal birth, whether it is a slight tear or a more serious tear to the anus, physiotherapy is vital in the healing process. Some complications can be pain, scar tissue, sensitivity and pelvic weakness. Even if your doctor has said it is only a minor tear but you feel like there are issues there do not hesitate to seek help. Come for an appointment to at least ensure you are doing your pelvic floor exercises properly. 50% of people who are verbally told to do pelvic floor exercises are doing them incorrectly. Do not be that statistic. Doing your exercises properly helps minimise further issues like incontinence in the future!
Arthritis – Bo has had lots of experience working with people with pain, stiffness and functional limitation from arthritis. She can give relief to the symptoms of arthritis. She has worked in a retirement village servicing the aged population who can be more affected by arthritis. Physiotherapy through soft tissue release, mobilisation and exercise can make a dramatic difference to your quality of life. Come and make an appointment today and feel better about yourself.
Rehabilitation – Bo has worked in a rehabilitation hospital specialising in neurological issues such as stroke or Parkinson’s disease. If you have just had surgery and need physiotherapy to get your joints and muscles moving normally again come and get treatment from Bo. As a senior orthopaedic physiotherapist at St Vincents Private Hospital she can get you back to ‘doing the things you want to do.
Frequency and or Nocturia – If you go to the toilet too many times either during the day and/or at night you may be able to do something about it. Come in for a consultation to get some advice and treatment on dealing with this inconvenient issue.
Post-Gynaecological Surgery – After seeing your surgeon to make sure he/she is happy with your recovery after surgery (usually 6 weeks after surgery) you may need some pelvic floor rehabilitation to get your pelvic floor functioning optimally. You may have never done pelvic floor exercises before. It is never too late. You may also need advice on how to take care of your pelvic floor. Physiotherapy can prolong the life of your surgery and pelvic floor so don’t need any more surgery down there again! Make an appointment to protect your pelvic floor.
Faecal Issues like Constipation, Urgency and or Incontinence – Do you need to rush to the toilet to open your bowels? Or do you get “skid marks” on your underwear? Are you constipated? Or do you have trouble holding your bowel motions in? Physiotherapy can help with all these issues. Come make an appointment now.
Abdominal Separation – Have you given birth and still have a wide gap between your muscles in your tummy? Or do you just feel really floppy and unsupported in your tummy and core? Physiotherapy can help with getting your core activated again and supporting you properly.
Musculoskeletal Conditions – Whether it is back or neck pain or any joint pain, muscle stiffness or strains, physiotherapy can get you back to normal life quicker. Bo has often had her patients say she has got “magic hands”. Bo can assess the underlying problem and get you back moving properly and feeling brand new.
