The MTR Story
MTR has been set up to provide our clients with a safe and effective tattoo removal treatment. We believe everyone should be able to remove the past, in as comfortable an environment as possible.

Meet our Team

Jessie Hall started MTR after having a tattoo removal treatment at a clinic in Melbourne. The laser technology fascinated her, and she began researching the different methods and techniques and alternative used for the technology. After 6 months of hard work, MTR was born. Jessie is passionate about helping people, and loves to offer new and exciting treatments using state of the art laser technology.

Simone Sissing has over 10 years experience in the industry, and has been exposed to an extensive range of skin treatments and technology. Simone is passionate about laser treatments and exploring the best possible solution for a client’s needs. Simone is also very interested in skin care products, and how to help her clients get the best results from their treatments.

Renee Kowalski has over 14 years experience in the field of Dermal Therapy specialising in the Paramedical and Day Spa Industry. Renee is fascinated by new beauty techniques, and is passionate about helping her clients, and looking at ways we can constantly endeavour to improve our results.

Why Laser Therapy?

Laser therapy is a proven tool to remove tattoos. The process involves putting out a very high intensity beam of light with a particular wavelength. The light passes through the outer layers of your skin and is absorbed by a specific target, the tattoo ink. When the tattoo ink absorbs the heat and energy of the laser, it shatters the particle into tiny pieces that are then able to be eliminated through the body’s lymphatic system.

At MTR we use the MedLite C6 Q-Switched Laser which is considered to be the gold standard laser for skin rejuvenation and tattoo removal. Combined with the Zimmer Chiller hand piece, we ensure the best results, wtih minimal downtime and redness.

Will it hurt?

Tattoo removal is faster and less painful than getting a tattoo – if you could handle the tattoo, you will be fine with the removal.
We use the latest technology to cool the skin before, during and after the treatment to minimize pain. You’ll feel a stinging sensation like a rubber band flicking your skin, but it will be gone within seconds.
We recommend that you take two paracetamol 30-60 minutes before your treatment to help with pain management. You can also obtain a topical anaesthetic cream from your local chemist to apply to the area before the treatment.

How many treatments will it take?

Every tattoo, and every person is unique! It can take between 5 and 15 treatments to remove a tattoo, depending on the quality of the tattoo, the depth and colour. When you visit MTR for your first visit we’ll be able to give you a better estimate based on your individual case.
The sessions are spaced 6-8 weeks to allow the lymphatic system enough time to flush the ink particles out of your body.

How soon can I have my tattoo removed?

You can have a tattoo removed as soon as it has completely healed. A minimum period of 3 months is advised – even though it may appear healed after only 1 week!

Can the area be re-tattooed?

Absolutely! Tattoo fading is very popular, and can help you to replace a tattoo, amend a tattoo or create space to improve on your current designs. We suggest you give the area at least 6 weeks following the removal so it is completely recovered.

How does laser removal differ from other forms of Tattoo Removal?

Lasers have all but replaced all other forms of tattoo removal. Other methods cause more damage and pain, cost more and are not as effective. Other methods that are occasionally still used include surgical excision, electro-cautery, dermabrasion and tattoo removal creams.
