Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a system for treating both muscle and joint problems for the whole musculo-skeletal system simultaneously while also taking into account your diet, exercise and lifestyle.  Osteopaths believe that the muscles and bones work together at the joints, and where a joint may be affected (be it arthritis, pinched nerve, etc) there will also be a muscular or neural response. Osteopaths at Miranda Health Centre treat the whole body as a single unit and will address all factors contributing to your pain and dysfunction. Call us Today and find out why Miranda Health Centre is the leading Osteopathic Provider within Southern Sydney and Sutherland Shire.

Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a discipline for treating spinal and joint problems for the entire body.  Chiropractors believe that if a spinal joint is affected by stress/dysfunction, it will irritate the nerves exiting the spine and create pain and dysfunction. By correcting the source, the symptoms will diminish.  Chiropractors at Miranda Health Centre treat utilising an entire body approach whereby you will leave each treatment feeling symptom free and pain free. Call us today and experience the Miranda Health Centre Chiropractic Difference.
Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the underlying principle of Chinese Medicine and follows that illness and pain occur when the body’s qi (pronounced “chi”), or vital energy, cannot flow freely.  The body’s energy meridians can become obstructed, in much the same way as a blocked artery or a kink in a hose.  By inserting ultra-fine needles into specific points on the body, our traditional acupuncture team seeks to re-establish the free flow of qi.  This restores balance and triggers the body’s natural healing response.

Customised Foot Orthotics

Most lower back and leg pain and discomfort come from instability.  Most times this can occur from a lack of joint play within the foot.  This dysfunction can present as collapsed arches, plantar fasciitis, recurrent ankle sprains, heel spurs etc.  When this occurs, treatment is limited as rest is a major precurser to recovery. This means no loading of the foot and leg. This never happens. Treatment can consist of sift tissue, needling and manipulation but unfortunately you do not have this all day, every day. This is where orthotics can assist.

Orthotics are custom made innersoles designed for your feet and worn inside most shoes to support and splint the foot to allow for healing and appropriate pressures to be distributed throughout the foot and ankle. The orthotics supplied by Miranda Health Centre come with a 100% money back guarantee.  If you are not satisfied with them or they do not fix your problem, we will refund your money and you get to keep the orthotics!!! Call us today and find out how orthotics can help you and your children.

Dry Needling

Trigger point dry needling is a treatment technique, which uses small filament type needles to release tight muscles with the goal of permanently reducing muscle pain and dysfunction.

Proper dry needling of a myofascial trigger point will elicit a local twitch response (LTR), which is an involuntary spinal cord reflex in which the muscle fibers in the taut band of muscle contract. The LTR indicates the proper placement of the needle in a trigger point. Research has indicated that dry needling that elicits LTRs improves treatment outcomes. Dr Luke Madden travels nationally teaching Dry Needling to GP’s, Osteopaths, Physiotherapists and Chiropractors. Call us today to find out how Dry Needling can help you.

Reviews

“When I sustained a shoulder injury, I took a punt on Miranda Health Centre and am glad the gamble paid off. I was assigned to Chiropractor, Dr Bill Tsanidis. From the outset, Bill made me feel comfortable with his easy-going, friendly and professional manner. I am an ocean swimmer and was due to participate in a 3km race not long after the injury was sustained, therefore I was anxious to get back to training asap. Bill performed a miracle – from being unable to swim less than a couple of hundred metres, I was able to complete the 3km ocean swim. I was really grateful for Bill’s expert treatment. Based on this positive outcome, I asked Bill if he could attempt to tackle an ongoing injury to my hips/glutes that was sustained during the birth of my second child – 4 years previous. Over the years I had been trying unsuccessfully to fix this problem; seeking help from Physiotherapists, other Chiropractors, leading Sports Doctors and Surgeons, all of whom fobbed me off to someone else. In stark contrast, Bill has never given up on me and although I doubt the problem will ever be entirely resolved, Bill’s treatment helps me manage the discomfort, which I am once again very grateful for.”

“”Ended up with more problems after treatment than before. Would not recommend.” – This was my original review of the experience I had. I received an unpleasant message from the owner of Miranda Health Centre (MHC) to my personal email which I think was used inappropriately and violated my privacy. The email contained the accusations such as “a very small person with no integrity”, “immature comment” and more. So, I decided to tell the full story.

I had a pain in my thoracic spine and my GP recommended to try chiropractic treatment.

I had 7 chiropractic appointments with MHC and I paid $99 for each appointment. I would say the treatments had none to little effect.

On my last appointment I advised chiropractor that I still have thoracic pain and it was sometimes shadowing to my heart. I was recommended to try needling as previous techniques didn’t help much. I was needled that day to thoracic spine area, left shoulder area near my neck and had general chiropractic treatment around heart area. The pain I experienced during needling was excruciating. I had trouble to dress up myself after treatment as I was shaking and weak. The pain lasted for 4-5 days and also left bruising. On the second day I started experiencing major heart palpitations (which was never the case before) and ended up in the hospital emergency. They did a various tests, but couldn’t find what was causing it and referred me to a cardiologist.

While I was still experiencing the palpitations I attended another chiropractic appointment. During the appointment I was asked for the timeline of the events and chiropractor offered help and support, he also gave me the referral for a chest x-ray as there was a suspicion of collapsed lung. The following day I received the voicemail from chiropractor checking on me. The next day I went to do the X-ray and the referral was rejected. I called the chiropractor and had to leave a voicemail as there was no answer. Because of that I had to visit my GP and get another referral to do the X-Ray. The next day I got a call supposedly from receptionist of MHC regarding my voicemail, I had to repeat all over again and left another message to the owner with an update – never heard back.

I’ve been told by chiropractor that treatments are loosing up the joints in order to work, but it didn’t go well for me. It found out that every time when one of my thoracic spinal segments would move from the alignment I would experience heart palpitations and when it would go back to its original position the palpitations would cease. Although, the owner offered help and support it never came. Funny enough in his email regarding my Review on Google he couldn’t even remember the main problem I had and referred to my “neck” problem which I never had.

There was another bad outcome from my chiropractic appointments. As a former sportsman I had a “clicking” right hip that never bothered me and was just an annoying sound. After the treatment the right hip clicking stopped, but the LEFT one started. I mentioned that to chiropractor and he jokingly said “haha, I fix one break another”. He tried to fix it, but couldn’t. He suggested to stretch it at home. I was doing the exercises for a month every day, but it didn’t help. I brought it up to my chiropractor’s attention and the response was that sometimes it happens and nothing you can do about that, he didn’t attempt to fix it that day. It wouldn’t bother me much to have now LEFT hip clicking instead of the RIGHT one, but the problem was that I started having nagging pain in my LEFT hip after prolonged staying and walking, and sometimes the pain would wake me up at night. I never had this problem before.

This was my experience and I wanted to show that chiropractic treatments might cause negative effects on your health. Please consider that before trying the treatments.”

“The only place in the shire that know what they are talking about. Treatment with results and amazing friendly team. lots of parking just out front. Thank you for fixing me when im broken :)”
