Moffat & Morton was formed in 2007 when Anne Moffat and Steve Morton merged their respective accountancy practices.
Our aim has always been to provide high quality service and exceed our client’s expectations.
We understand that the days of being a traditional “number cruncher” accountant have now passed. Our clients are expecting us to be connected, responsive and future focussed.
Clients want us to understand them and their businesses and be able to work together to provide strategic value. This is our firm’s ethos.

Our People
Steve Morton – Partner
Steve began his career in Perth with Ernst & Young in 1991.
He was promoted to Manager in the business services division in 1997 and headed to the UK to gain some commercial experience, which included a stint with Deutsche Bank. In 2004 he left the Brisbane-based branch of Ernst & Young to establish his own accounting practice.
Steve is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Masters of Taxation from Sydney University. He is an active member of professional industry bodies including the Taxation Institute of Australia and is a Registered Tax Agent.
Steve advises clients on their individual taxation and business affairs. He is an expert in succession planning for family-owned businesses and trusts. His tax knowledge and qualifications has been a strong asset when advising clients on the complexities surrounding tax regulations.
The combination of Steve’s broad practical experience together with his technical knowledge gives him the tools to provide solid, timely advice to his clients.
Jane Hutcheson – Associate
Jane joined Moffat & Morton in 2011 following roles as a Tax Manager in a number of accounting firms and various commercial roles.
Her experience spans a cross-section of industries including retail, manufacturing and exporting, residential and commercial property development, legal and not-for-profit organisations.
Until late 2003, Jane provided taxation and business services advice to one of the ‘Big Four’ firms in relation to entrepreneurial businesses including corporate taxation, restructuring, capital gains tax, fringe benefits tax and salary packaging advice.
Prior to joining Moffat and Morton, Jane worked as a Group Financial Controller with a privately owned investment and equity house based in London with a focus on start-up ventures and the development of businesses with a view to flotation. This role gave Jane a high level exposure to the various functions of the expanding business operations including accounting, taxation, treasury and general operational requirements.
Jane is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Business in Accountancy & Taxation Law.
Chanara Khun – Graduate Accountant
Chanara is a commerce graduate from The University of Queensland, where he majored in accounting and finance.
Prior to joining the team, he worked as a tax consultant preparing individual returns. He aspires to become a chartered accountant.
In his downtime Chanara enjoys fishing and playing basketball.
Jeanette Jones – Receptionist
Jeanette joined Moffat & Morton in 2007.
Her duties include reception, office administration, lodgements and bookkeeping.
Jeanette has been working in the administration area of small to medium tier chartered accounting firms in Brisbane and Perth since 1978.
After taking a break from the accounting industry in the early 90’s to attend Curtin University in Perth, where she obtained a BSc (Nursing), Jeanette was lured back with the offer to become the administration manager of a medium tier accounting firm in Perth.
In 2000, Jeanette returned to Brisbane where she was initially employed in this firm by former partner, Anne Moffat.
