While their doctor refers many clients to physio, it is not necessary. The Therapists at Moreton All Body Care are all qualified and AHPRA registered and able to treat patients without medical referral.
If you are able to claim a rebate for physiotherapy services from a private health fund, this is possible without a medical referral.A medical referral from your general practitioner is necessary only if:
- You have been injured at work and your case is being managed by workcover
- Your treatment is covered by Veterans Affairs
- You are claiming your treatment expenses through a 3rd party claim.
- You are on a Medicare Enhanced Primary Care Plan.
Your physiotherapist is also able to refer you on to other medical and allied health professionals where appropriate.
Medicare now offers Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Programs to allow a Medicare rebate for up to 5 allied health treatments a year.
The program is for people with chronic conditions and patients must be referred by their GP. If you have any queries regarding this service please don’t hesitate to speak with us.
All patients who attend our clinics on EPC’s for physiotherapy will be charged only the medicare schedule amount so there is no out of pocket expense.
Payment is required at the time of treatment and we are able to immediately refund this amount to you from Medicare, via either a savings or cheque account, through our EFTPOS terminal.
Should you chose not to do this you can take your receipt to Medicare to obtain a full refund at a later date.
Please remember to bring your Medicare card and your EFTPOS card to any appointments.
Following an initial comprehensive assessment, a full objective examination and hands on assessment with functional testing is performed to establish a diagnosis.
You are welcome to ask any questions you may have.Treatment may involve different ways of relieving pain, restoring function, flexibility and strength.
Skills and techniques used may include mobilisations of joints and or soft tissues, manipulation, postural correction, dry needling/acupuncture, electrotherapy, exercises and muscle rehabilitation.
You will also learn techniques to use at home to manage your problem, which may include exercise and preventative measures.
At Moreton All Body Care we also liaise with others involved in your care if applicable and will refer you for alternative treatment if Physiotherapy is not the best option.
If you have extra’s cover with your health fund, and you are covered for massage therapy, you will be able to claim your massage through HICAPS at the time of your appointment.
As all health funds have differing rebate amounts so it is best to check with your fund if you would like to know your rebate prior to treatment.
AEPs assess, prescribe, supervise and monitor exercise and lifestyle programs designed to meet an individual’s specific health outcomes for individuals with a wide range of chronic diseases and musculoskeletal conditions.
Working in collaboration with a general practitioner, and with other allied health practitioners, AEPs will develop an exercise program based on your patient’s current medical status and musculoskeletal condition, to ensure that the exercise program is both safe and effective to achieve the required health goals.
This may include a supervised one-on-one or group exercise program.
In addition, AEPs will work to ensure your patient has the necessary knowledge and skills to exercise safely and effectively, and to motivate and support them while they start out with an exercise program.
