MTA Mobile Travel Agent – Carly Jack

I love to explore the unknown! For as long as I can remember, travel has always been my greatest passion. I knew at a very young age I wanted to see the world. The best part about travel for me, are the experiences that you just can’t get at home, so as a career this ever changing, exciting industry was the obvious answer for me.

After finishing high school in 1998, I studied at UTAG Training Academy, and went on to finish Certificate III in Travel & Tourism.

For the first few years of my career, I worked in UTAG and American Express offices in Sydney, and predominantly focused on corporate travel.

At the end of 2000 I embarked on my first BIG adventure, and backpacked around the world. One of the highlights of this trip was travelling overland from Los Angeles, down the Baja Peninsula, then onto mainland Mexico, where I continued along the Pacific Coast and finally ended up in the bustling, vibrant Mexico City.

After that it was onto the UK, where I worked as a reservations consultant for NCL Cruise Lines in their London head office, on High Street Kensington. This base allowed me to continue to grow my knowledge in a different area of the travel industry and to travel various spots in the UK and Europe.
I also furthered my skills and experience working as a corporate consultant for American Express Europe in the in-house office for Cisco Systems.

After working in London, it was time for my next BIG adventure, which is still my best travel experience to date!

In 2004 my girlfriend and I flew to the Yucatán Peninsula and travelled overland from Cancun and down the coast of Mexico, marvelling at the azure waters of the Caribbean Sea and ancient Mayan ruins. We then journeyed up into the jungles of Belize, before travelling by boat to Honduras and the divers’ paradise of Roatan island. We then took, what they like to call a ‘chicken bus’ through the wildly untouched country of Nicargua before arriving at my favourite destination – Costa Rica. It was here I spent the next month exploring the breathtaking rainforests, incredible wildlife, volcanos, and beautiful beaches of this true paradise.

When I came home I decided to focus on my passion which was leisure and adventure travel. I spent the next 3 years working for Harvey World Travel Manly, and then World Expeditions.

I’ve just returned from W.A after spending the last 4 years working for Helloworld Bunbury, as a senior consultant specialising in leisure and honeymoon travel. Some of my most memorable travel experiences during this time include – an acclaim trip with Trafalgar Tours to Eastern Canada, Mauritius, my wedding at the beautiful Semara Luxury Villas in Uluwatu, Bali and honeymoon to Kandooma Island in The Maldives.
