Sam Noble – remedial massage therapist

I have 13 years experience in sports and remedial massage. Having obtained my qualifications at the Australian College of Massage and Natural Therapies, I opened my own clinic in Queensland. For nine years, I specialised in trigger-point therapy and treated a diverse range of individuals, including Olympic and professional athletes.

In 2011, I moved to Banff, Canada and worked in a sports clinic. I gained experience and knowledge dealing with ski-related injuries. The following year I moved to London and worked at The Massage Centre. Working in London gave me extensive insight into various work-related and computer injuries such as RSI. I have always balanced my practical, hands-on approach with ongoing courses.

I’m passionate about helping people with all kinds of muscular afflictions and can cater a massage to suit your needs.

Emma Bruce – myotherapist

With 11 years experience in the wellness industry, I have worked as a remedial massage therapist and pilates instructor alongside osteopaths, chiropractors, sports physiotherapists and naturopaths. My passion lies in determining what underlying issues are creating clients’ pain and discomfort and addressing these root causes as well as the signs and symptoms to gain long term ease. In my experience, I have found a combination of soft tissue release and client education create an excellent path to recovery and maintenance of muscular discomfort.

My clientele includes Ironman athletes, ultra marathon runners, cyclists, office workers and new mums. I love working with a diverse range of people!

I am currently completing an Advanced Diploma in Myotherapy to help further my knowledge and ability to assist clients as much as possible.

Damien Finn – remedial massage therapist

My passion for remedial massage first began in my teens, when I would intuitively massage friends and family. Since then I have gained diplomas in remedial massage and shiatsu, deepening my knowledge of western and eastern health models. To help my clients stay active, I provide comprehensive treatments using a range of effective techniques from both systems – assisting them to excel in their chosen sport, prevent or rehabilitate from injury, to work more productively or simply enjoy more freedom of movement.

Like my late grandmother, a skilled physical therapist, I find great reward in helping clients to improve their range of motion and free themselves from muscular discomfort. I have experience working with athletes, martial artists and weight trainers, and continuously update my skills with ongoing study and development.

Kerrie Baumgartner – remedial massage therapist

I have a broad background in elite sport combined with various physical education, management and massage courses. After studying my Bachelor of Applied Science at Victoria University, I went on to complete a Graduate Certificate in Athlete Career Education and Management, plus a Business Certificate.

Over the years, I have worked in various sports and health development roles, such as State Development Officer of Triathlon Victoria and SDO of CycleSport Victoria, combined with Personal Training and coaching roles. My passion for sport is reflected in reaching numerous national and state titles and achieving elite standards in three sports (Athletics-800m, Triathlons and Cycling). This sporting experience has given me a thorough understanding of the human body and how to prevent injuries.

Since graduating with a Diploma of Remedial Massage 8 years ago, I have worked in various physiotherapy clinics and gained invaluable experience. I can combine deep tissue, myofascial release techniques and trigger-point therapy with cupping and dry needling, as required, to enhance healing.

GENERAL TREATMENTS

Remedial Massage

Remedial massage involves the manipulation and mobilisation of muscles and soft tissues for pain relief, muscle repair, health maintenance and injury prevention. It is ideal for sudden injury such as a hamstring strain or shoulder injury and also for long-term injury such as neck or low back pain.

Myotherapy

Myotherapy is the assessment, treatment and management of musculoskeletal conditions, which may be causing pain and muscular dysfunction and thus affecting movement and mobility. Muscular dysfunction can be caused by direct trauma, overload or misuse of muscles arising from occupational, sporting or recreational activities. Myotherapists treat a broad range of chronic and acute muscular pathologies including, but not limited to, frozen shoulder, carpal tunnel, RSI, numbness and tingling, headaches and migraines and anything in between.

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy massage is a version of remedial massage that is adapted to suit the specific needs of expectant mothers. A woman’s body undergoes many physical changes during pregnancy, some of which can cause pain and discomfort. One of the major benefits of pregnancy massage is the increase in blood circulation to muscles being treated, which results in increased oxygen and nutrient availability to these tissues at a vital time in the mother and baby’s life.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is one of the most common and effective ways to treat pain and injury. It uses firm-pressure designed to release tight layers of muscle and tissue, which usually develops from bad posture, injury or overuse. Restoring movement in the soft tissues alleviates pain, muscle spasm and stress from the problematic area.

Dry Needling

Dry Needling involves inserting a hair fine, single use sterile needle, (acupuncture needle) into a Trigger Point. It has been found in many research studies to be extremely effective in releasing the pain and tightness associated in trigger points. Needling may also strengthen tendons and ligaments by inducing a local inflammatory response to the disturbed tissue.

Myofascial Cupping

Myocupping is a form of massage, done with traditional Chinese cups. It creates negative pressure which passively stretches the soft tissue which increases the range of motion, blood supply and heat to the treated area . Cupping also increases the fluid movement which assists in the recovery (decreased swelling or edema), and increases nutrient rich blood supply to the affected area.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is a fast growing technique that’s growing popular with sporting teams and athletes around the world. During a Sports massage we take into account each individual sports and the common injuries that occur. Sports massage is also used to help athletes recover from any injuries and aids in their recovery.

Trigger Point Therapy

A trigger point is an area of tension within muscle tissue that causes referral pain in other parts of the body. For example a trigger point in your neck may cause referral pain into your head and arm. Trigger points in your neck and shoulders are common cause of tension headaches.

Rocktape Treatment

RockTape is a premium brand of kinesiology tape. First used by acupuncturists and chiropractors in Japan, today kinesiology tape is used by a wide variety of health professionals throughout the world to treat injuries and pain.

SPORTS TREATMENTS

Massage for Triathletes

Training and competing in triathlons is very demanding on your body because it involves repetitive motions sustained over a long period of time. This leaves the body vulnerable to specific overuse injuries that can cause you to lose performance or sustain further injury.

Massage for Swimmers

Swimming is a low-impact sport but with any sport that requires repetitive action you need to maintain a healthy balance between the stronger, tighter muscle swimming uses and the antagonistic, weaker muscle it doesn’t.

Massage for Runners

Running is one of the easiest ways to stay fit. It is also one of the easiest ways to develop an injury. Aches, pains and injuries are all too common for those new to running, but even seasoned runners can wind up with pain to the hips, knees, ankles, and feet.

Massage for Golfers

Golf and sports injuries are not something you hear very often in a sentence together but it’s a lot more common then people think. Because of the repetitive, one-sided nature of the golf swing we commonly see muscular injuries in the lower back, hips, shoulder and elbows.

Massage for Cyclists

Cycling is a very repetitive action that requires the lower extremities to work under extreme load for a long period of time. Common injuries include iliotibial band syndrome (runners knee), achilles tendinitis/tendinopathy, calf and hamstring/quadriceps strains, hip flexor, groin
