Background – Malcom Orman (Director/Chartered Accountant )

Malcolm grew up in Coffs Harbour where his parents’ still reside. As a teenager Malcolm assisted his father in a residential sub division – laying pipes, excavation, sales & marketing. Whilst earning his degree at UNE (Armidale) he drove trucks, moved furniture and worked in primary industry involving bananas and tomatoes as well as in service stations and in any other opportunity to assist him achieving his goals to become a chartered accountant.

After he graduated with a degree in Business Financial Administration Malcolm worked in the National Australia Bank in a senior management role (accelerated trainee) before pursuing a career in Chartered Accounting with Coopers & Lybrand. Malcolm then progressed to a managers role within this top “8” Chartered Accounting firm before deeming it necessary to expand his horizons.

He was appointed as the financial controller of the Australian trading division of a N.Z publicly listed company involved in the acquisition, development and sale of residential, commercial, industrial and retail property. During this period he obtained unprecedented experience in the acquisition, development, rental and disposal of all divisions of property including the legal and social ramifications and responsibilities of a major position.

He then moved from Chartered Public Practice to financial controllership with AMP Shopping Centres (retail property management) and later with Air Express International Australia with International Freight Management.

After relocating to the Gold Coast in 1999, and after working for a few firms on the Coast he decided that working for someone else just was not an option any more. After resigning his position, he and his wife Jenny then decided to start their own operation and called it NAMRO Services. (NAMRO being the ORMAN back to front).

NAMRO Services started at home in a downstairs office. After 3 years, “home” became too small. This is when they decided to buy the old house at Labrador and renovated it to become what they now call “The Office”.
