Services
We provide a wide variety of physiotherapy services from our modern clinic. Physiotherapy in general terms aims to assist people with movement disorders. These disorders may be present from an accident or injury or as a result of the changes that occur as we age.
We help people of all ages with many different types of problems.
We use a wide variety of techniques to assist your injured area to recover back to its best potential. These techniques vary from cast application, hands on treatments, exercise instruction and management, general lifestyle advice and often injury management.
Very often you do not require a lot of therapy. Many problems can be managed well, by establishing a diagnosis at the start of the process followed by a subsequent management plan. Very often, this attitude towards your injury management results in a good outcome with less cost incurred. For simple problems we try to keep it simple. Occasionally if you have a significant loss of joint movement, e.g., a stiff shoulder, you require often more regular therapy.
What types of problem can physiotherapy help?
Virtually any condition that affects your muscles, joints, or nerves may be helped by physiotherapy.
Common problems include:
Painful conditions such as arthritis
Back and neck pain, including whiplash
Upper limb work-related problems, also known as repetitive strain injury (RSI)
Sports injuries
Shoulder and knee conditions
Cast application for fractured arms or legs.
What does the treatment involve?
Before any action is taken your physiotherapist will assess your condition, diagnose the problem, and help you understand what’s wrong. The physio will work with you to develop a treatment plan that takes into account your lifestyle, leisure activities, and general health. This will include advice on how you can help yourself; for example, you may be shown exercises that you can do between treatment sessions.
Throughout the treatment or re-training program, the physio evaluates your progress at regular intervals, modifying treatment and goals when necessary. Wherever possible your physio will also work with you to help you learn to manage your condition independently for the longer term.
