Laser Tattoo Removal
Operating in True Flat-Top Hat Beam mode which ensures an even distribution of energy, the laser works by targeting tattoos with an intensive laser which allows very high powered laser light to be delivered to the skin over a fraction of a second, which minimises any damage that could be caused by overheating the surrounding skin and hence any chance of scarring is greatly reduced. This process reduces visibility through a series of treatments exclusively catered to your unique tattoo that break down the pigments in the skin so that they can be absorbed by the lymphatic system.

Most clients will experience dramatic success in permanently removing their unwanted tattoos. Black, blue and red inks react particularly well to the laser light, while some lighter inks (like aqua and yellow) may be a little more resistant. Different inks, types of tattoos (professional or amateur), location, skin type, age of the tattoo as well as your overall health will affect the end result. We’ll need to have a good look at your tattoo during the initial consultation, and from there we can discuss on an individual basis the results you can expect.

It is important to remember that laser tattoo removal is a process, not an event, and it requires patience and commitment. ​PRECAUTIONS

Strict avoidance of the sun on the area to be treated is essential in the 4 weeks prior to your laser tattoo removal treatment. Wear 30+ sunblock and protective clothing on the area regardless of weather. Any kind of tan (real or fake) will affect the laser as it will be attracted to the darker colours of the tan. It can also hinder the healing process.
To aid your body’s lymphatic system in absorbing the broken ink particles after each laser tattoo removal treatment, it is recommended that you drink plenty of water and limit your alcohol intake. If you smoke, it is also highly recommended that you reduce the amount of cigarettes that you smoke. We aren’t going to tell you to quit, we ain’t your mum or your doctor. But trust us, if you cut back during the treatments you will notice your body responding to the laser tattoo removal much quicker. It’s science. Your body’s natural filtration system is already working overtime to flush out the toxins found in alcohol and cigarettes, therefore consumption of these substances will have a negative effect on the healing process, and as a result you will require more laser sessions.
Wear light coloured, loose fiting clothing around the area to your appointment.
If you require a topical anesthetic, let us know during the initial consultation as this will need to be applied an hour prior to your scheduled appointment time in order for it to take effect. We stock Numb Skin by Dr Numb which is available for purchase from the clinic.
Consuming alcohol or drugs before a laser tattoo removal treatment is not advisable, as it makes you more aware of pain.

THE TREATMENT PROCESS

A laser that is used for tattoo removal is a highly focused laser that rapidly delivers a beam of light to the skin for the purpose of removing unwanted tattoos. The laser is attracted by darker colours found in the ink of the tattoo in preference to the lighter colour of the skin.
When the beam of the laser strikes the ink in a tattoo it shatters the ink into very fine particles. These particles are then no longer visible to the eye and become small enough to be absorbed and removed by the body’s own natural filtration (lymphatic) system. Lightening of the tattoo can continue over several months after the treatment.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Tattooed areas will whiten and be raised immediately after a laser tattoo removal treatment – this is expected and is a normal reaction. It will settle within about half an hour.
After treatment the area will be red and may be swollen. It will feel similar to a sunburn.
The area may look bruised or as if the ink has smudged under the skin. This is a common reaction in people who scar or bruise easily.
Spot bleeding is common during and after the treatment. If this happens we will clean and dress the area after treatment.
The area may become very itchy – it is important that you do not scratch it, otherwise you might cause scarring.
The tattooed area may blister – it is important that you do not break the blisters, keep them dressed to avoid infection.
We will clean the area and dress if necessary. It is important that you keep the area clean and dry during the healing process.
It is important that you take care to avoid high water pressure hitting the area (as in don’t let the shower run directlyon the area). Do not soak the area until it has completely healed to avoid infection (no baths, hot tubs, swimming pools etc.)
You may help relieve any swelling by cold compressing. Apply an ice pack wraped in soft cloth and leave on the treated area for 5-10 minutes at a time.
Do not rub, pick or scratch the area(s). Treat with care! This is important to prevent scarring.

Carbon Laser Peel

​HOW DOES IT WORK?

A layer of liquid carbon lotion is applied to the skin which penetrates the pores. The laser is then used to gently heat the carbon, taking dead skin cells, contaminants and excess oil with it. The results can be seen after just one treatment, but for maximum long-term results we recommend regular treatments.
