Services

Assessing and Correcting the Whole Body (CONNECT Physiotherapy)

ConnectTherapy or The Integrated Systems Model for pain and disability assesses dysfunction within the body in the context of whole body  movement and optimal health of the whole person.

The collaborative work, initially of Diane Lee and advanced by Dr Linda Joy Lee, has resulted in an approach to injury and dysfunction which considers the interaction of all the different areas of the body. The approach is based on latest research outcomes and exploits elements such as motor relearning and brain plasticity, advanced muscle retraining and strengthening, often with extraordinary results.

Musculoskeletal
Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy is the branch of physiotherapy with which most people are familiar – the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of muscle and joint problems, especially spinal conditions that commonly cause lower back pain and neck pain.

It employs advanced clinical assessment and treatment methods. This has come from high quality research conducted by Australian and overseas physiotherapists and researchers, embracing a greater understanding of pain physiology, neuromotor control of movement, human behavioural and social sciences.

Pre and Post Orthopaedic Surgery

Our physiotherapists work closely with all the orthopaedic surgeons in the area.  They want to ensure you prepare and recover from your surgery.

Physiotherapy before your surgery helps your body understand how to use your muscles and joints in your recovery.  This physiotherapy can be done before you even go into the hospital.

After your operation the physiotherapists will visit you in hospital each day to assist your recovery and get your joints and muscles working as normal as possible.

After discharge from hospital you will continue to see the physiotherapist in the clinic to make sure get optimal recovery from your surgery.

Sports Physiotherapy
Sports physiotherapy is a specialised area in which deals with injury and issues as they relate to active people. Everyone from Olympic athletes to morning walkers and anyone in between.

Sports physiotherapy focuses on evaluation of the person’s whole body and the biomechanical demands of their activity, in order to develop the most specific treatment, rehabilitation, prevention and performance enhancement strategies for the physically-active individual.

We keep you doing what you want to be doing faster, stronger, sooner.

Paediatric physiotherapists are specialised physiotherapists who work with children of all ages to improve and optimise physical development and movement dysfunctions.

Arthritis

Arthritis is a condition which causes pain, stiffness and swelling of your joints and their surrounding tissue. Osteoarthritis involves damage to your joints through “wear and tear” and is the most common type of arthritis. Our physiotherapists can help you manage the symptoms of arthritis and make life easier by reducing pain, improving flexibility, strengthening muscles and improving daily function. In addition to treatment in the clinic, you can also attend our hydrotherapy classes which allows you to exercise with less forces through your painful joints.

Joint Replacement Clinics

Joint replacement surgery is an effective management for advanced osteoarthritis of the knee and hip joints. Rehabilitation after surgery contributes greatly to the outcome of your surgery. Whilst the new prosthesis helps alleviate your joint pain, restoring muscle strength and function through physiotherapy will help to maximise your recovery.

Our experienced physiotherapists can guide you from preparation for surgery through to post-operative rehabilitation, helping you make the most of your new joint and achieve new goals of physical activity. One of our physiotherapists, Vicki Ko, has completed her PhD researching physiotherapy strategies after knee replacements.

Work injury rehabilitation

PPSC has extensive experience providing an early return to employment for work injuries. We ensure the worker is treated individually for their specific employment and injury needs.

Our clinics provide a positive rehabilitation environment and we set clear return to work goals for injured works, employees and all parties involved in the rehabilitation pathway.

“Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. After three sessions, I have already seen some results. And it doesn’t just stop when your session has finished. I love receiving exercises to continue with at home to further my progress. Wish I had known about you guys earlier !”

“I injured my shoulder at Christmas time and the pain was getting worse and worse as each month passed. I went to a local chiro and an osteo and neither of them had a clue as to what was wrong or how to fix it. Finally I was referred to Pat by a friend. 2 sessions and I am totally healed!
Pat knew immediately what was wrong and he went to work straight away and gave me specific exercises to do. His personable nature and expertise are second to none.
Thanks Pat, you are a star!”
