This is a story of how the founder of Peter Alexander Sleepwear, Peter grew the business from a single man operation to the internationally recognised brand name of his dreams.

At age 24, Peter decided it was time to be his own boss. When his female friends were unable to find comfortable women’s pyjamas that weren’t matronly styles, he decided to get into the pyjama game.

Working from his Mother’s dining room table Peter began making women’s pyjamas selling to department stores. When the phone rang, to make the business seem bigger Peter and his Mum would pretend to be someone else!

“It all started with a simple idea and a simple spot!”

When a department store cancelled an order for 2000 pairs of pyjamas, Peter turned his biggest set back into an opportunity. He then put a mail order advertisement in a popular women’s magazine and the response was overwhelming. Peter was flooded with 6000 orders from one ad and since then he hasn’t looked back!

Following this success the business started to grow and attract media attention. Peter was dubbed the ‘Pyjama King’ by the Australian Media and the nickname has stuck to this day! His humorous, quirky and playful personality shines through in every collection.

Each new collection has a unique theme and is inspired either by Peter’s travels around the world, from Paris & New York to African Safaris or exciting design collaborations with Disney and Sesame Street just to name a few.

Celebrities began wearing his pyjamas such as Delta Goodrem, Dame Edna, Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders, Kylie Minogue, Miranda Kerr and Hugh Jackman.

These unique collections are designed to delight women, men and children alike and are loved around the world every night. Crafted from the most comfortable and luxurious fabrics, you’ll find more than just pyjamas at Peter Alexander. There’s also loungewear, daywear, footwear and gifts.
‘I am absolutely obsessed with prints and constantly looking around the world for inspiration. I seek out original artwork and design in-house with my wonderful team of graphics artists.’

Peter was always an animal lover, even from a young age. But it was Penny who ignited Peter’s passion for animal welfare. Peter is an ambassador for the RSPCA, constantly thinking of ways to raise money and awareness to help all creatures great and small.

One day he walked past an adorable little dachshund puppy in need of home. That was the day he found Penny who grew to become the beloved and iconic logo of the brand. As you walk through the pink doors today, you will see Penny almost everywhere, from the pyjamas to the gift packaging and even Penny dog shaped door handles!

The Just Group acquired the business in 2000. Since then, Peter Alexander Sleepwear has grown with leaps and bounds from a pure catalogue based business to a multi-channel business with 100 retail stores within Australia and New Zealand, with Peter Alexander himself as the Creative Director of the brand.

Whilst we’ve been sleeping, Melbourne based designer Peter Alexander has been building an enormously successful business, creating his gorgeous, fun and fashionable pyjamas.
Kylie Minogue, Salma Hayek, Toni Collette, Nicole Richie, Miranda Kerr, Nicolette Sheridan & the Hilton sisters have all been sleeping with Peter.
Today Peter Alexander is fast becoming an empire. With the celebration of twenty five years, and the opening of more than 50 stand alone stores nationally and internationally – it appears a large number of people are jumping into bed with him!

Goods will be delivered on business days. No deliveries will be made on weekends or public holidays.

We recommend either a work address (please include full business name, receivers name and other relevant details) or PO BOX for prompt delivery.

We deliver by Australia Post. Goods may not be delivered next day due to circumstances (such as adverse weather, strikes etc.) beyond the control of Peter Alexander or Australia Post.

Next Business Day delivery is available to customers located in Australian CBD, metro and major regional areas (excluding Perth metro and Darwin). Please check the postcodes below to see if you live in a qualifying area. If you are located outside a Next Business Day area, choosing Express delivery will still result in a faster delivery than Standard delivery.
For Next Business Day delivery you must place your order by 2pm (Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time) on any business day. Orders placed on weekends and public holidays will be despatched on the next business day. If your order is placed after 2pm (Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time) your order will be delivered on an Express delivery service.

How can I track the progress of my order?
Log into your account and select My Orders for a list of previous orders. You can simply enter your order number or use the date range to search for specific orders. Click the order number you wish to track; this will display your order details including the status and tracking numbers. If your order has been shipped, click on the tracking/date link for further information on your order. You will be redirected to the Australia Post website for tracking.

Please note you can only begin to track your order after it has been shipped. Once your order has been shipped you will receive an email from us which includes your consignment tracking number.

Important Information
We cannot accept responsibility for delays in delivery due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g. Strikes, floods etc.). All colours of garments are reproduced as accurately as possible, however a slight variation may occur in colour and size specifications. Colours may appear slightly different via this web site due to computer picture resolution and individual monitor settings. Offers are available until stocks sell out.

WE RESERVE THE RIGHT:
To cancel any order, at which time we will immediately notify this action by e-mail or phone, using the details provided. We will refund all monies paid using the original method received.

OUR REFUND & EXCHANGE POLICY

In addition to your Statutory Rights, should you change your mind we will happily exchange or refund providing the following conditions have been met:

The items with the original receipt are returned within 30 days of purchase.
Items must be in original condition as purchased with no personalisation and all labels/tickets attached. Garments must not have been worn.
No exchange or refund is available on any product that has been personalised, unless the product is faulty.

HOW TO GET A REFUND OR MAKE AN EXCHANGE
PURCHASES MADE IN STORE

Purchases made in a Peter Alexander Australian retail store (including purchases in an Australian store for delivery to you) can be returned or exchanged in a Peter Alexander Australian retail store (excluding Myer stores). You must present the receipt you received in the store at the time you purchased your items.

PURCHASES MADE ONLINE

You can return or exchange an item purchased online:

in any Peter Alexander retail store in Australia (excluding Myer stores); or
by posting it to our Online Store Returns/Exchange address: Peter Alexander Sleepwear Pty Ltd, 1 Roussos Place, Truganina, VIC Australia 3029
In either case, you must present the receipt you received in your parcel & indicate the reason for the return or exchange.

Please note: all returns or exchanges remain the responsibility of the purchaser until received by Peter Alexander. Please do not re-use our courier bag. Make sure your name, address, phone number and instructions are included. Comments would be appreciated. We cannot accept any prepaid satchels, envelopes, cash or stamps for re-delivery purpose. Unfortunately at this time Peter Alexander customers are not able to purchase in a Myer store for delivery to home or nominated address, or return or exchange Peter Alexander online orders in Myer.

REFUNDS – ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Provided the conditions in our refund & exchange policy have been met, refunds will be processed using the original form of payment. Please note that delivery costs will be excluded unless goods are returned in accordance with your statutory rights (eg. they are faulty or not as ordered).
