Company Overview

Like so many good stories, ours begins once upon a time… 1990 to be exact, in New Zealand with a woman named Sally Synott. Sally had worked as a childrenswear buyer, searching near and far to find the very best kids’ clothes. She had an eye for both fashion and function. She found some good clothes, but something told Sally that little on the market was right for New Zealand families.

“There’s a hole in the market for quality, design-driven kidswear,” she surmised.

The seed was planted, and Pumpkin Patch began to grow – initially as a mail-order business, soon followed by the opening of our first retail store in Auckland.

In 1993 we saw an opportunity to take our range of fantastic kids’ apparel to our neighbours across the Tasman. Our expansion into Australia was the beginning of the business model that has seen Pumpkin Patch continue to thrive throughout the world.

Over the years, we have expanded into the US and UK markets, initially with retail stores as well as our mail order catalogue. Our online business remains strong and is our focus for continued growth in these markets.

Family is at the heart of everything we do, and our family has definitely grown over the years. Pumpkin Patch now employs over 2,000 people, with more than 190 stores and wholesale operations in 24 markets globally. We’re so proud that the Patch brand can be found throughout Australasia, in selected countries across Asia and the Middle East, as well as the UK and USA.

This sort of growth doesn’t happen overnight, and it certainly doesn’t happen unless you’ve got something unique to offer. What sets us apart is that our clothing meets the needs of young families at every stage in their lives. It’s something we’re really good at, probably because we’re parents ourselves. We’re passionate about bringing our loyal customers the best kidswear collections, season after season.

The Pumpkin Patch collections are created by our dedicated in-house design team, guaranteeing each garment is fresh and fun with a distinctive Patch signature. They are very comprehensive and cover all stages of a child’s growth, from baby through to pre-teen. They are packed with great fashion, hardwearing everyday wear and all the other coordinating wardrobe essentials – including footwear, nightwear, swimwear and accessories.

Stocked full of gorgeous little outfits, cuddle blankets and gift assortments you are sure to find something. Another pleasant surprise seems to be that not many people know of its location because there were few people in the store allowing ample time to thoroughly look around without the crowds and easy access to available staff who were friendly and very helpful. Good location, great prices and a nice selection of items for mum and bub.”
