Clinical Massage

What it is:

Clinical/remedial massage utilises evidence based, scientifically proven techniques to treat a wide variety of musculo-skeletal injuries, soft tissue dysfunctions, and to manage muscular pain.

How it works:

Clinical/remedial Massage focuses on identifying and treating the cause of the problem, instead of just temporarily alleviating its symptoms.

Treatments are designed to suit individual requirements and comfort levels, and aim to restore normal range of movement and muscle function throughout the body. Techniques used in Clinical Massage include deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, cross fibre friction, cupping, and functional fascial taping.

To fast track recovery, massage is often complemented with take home exercises and stretches, to be completed outside of clinic appointments.

Ongoing management plans are provided to ensure that recovery and relief from pain is maintained.

Is Clinical Massage right for me?

Clinical/remedial Massage can provide effective treatment for:

  • Musculoskeletal pain, headaches and migraines, stress, correcting poor posture and improving circulation
  • Acute and chronic back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, and knee pain
  • Shin splints, compartment syndrome, ankle knee and hip injuries
  • Sciatica and piriformis syndrome, disk prolapse and disk bulge
  • Tennis elbow and golfers elbow
  • Pre and post event sports massage
  • TMJ therapy (teeth grinding and braxing)
  • Pre and post surgical soft tissue injuries
  • Injury rehabilitation by improving recovery time, soft tissue adaptability, joint mobility, and by reducing scar tissue adhesions
  • Reducing sports injury risk, improving athletic performance and post-training recovery for recreational and professional athletes
  • Treating Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI), chronic pain and muscular tension caused by sedentary workplace environments including time spent at a desk or computer

Reviews

“Chris is an amazing therapist. I have been suffering a long term injury which within our first session Chris has given me confidence that it will be resolved soon. His knowledge and eduction on the body through the session is second to none and physically, i haven’t felt better after a specialist treatment in the last 9months as I have after my session with Chris. Thanks!”

“As someone who suffers from Scheuermann’s desease I was desperate to find a way to reduce my back pain and still keep active in my day to day life. Chris’s clinic has allowed me to do exactly that. Ive been with Chris for nearly two years now and couldn’t be more pleased with him. Chris has a wholistic approach to massaging the body which leaves you feeling rejuvenated and fresh. Best remedial massage I’ve ever had.”

“Do yourself a HUGE favour and get some training from Chris. I went to Chris after hitting a plateau in my fitness and strength levels. At 39 and having played a lot of sports and martial arts throughout my life, I thought that I wouldn’t be able to get any more oomph out of my body and I was on the downward slope to a dirt nap. Not so fast. Chris’s knowledge of martial arts, strength and conditioning and body mechanics is amazingly detailed. He is able to pull together core concepts from a wide range of modalities and pull them into a program that helped me reach goals i didn’t think was possible. I am now deadlifting 2 x bodyweight, squating and benching1.5 x bodyweight for reps. My movement patterns and balance have improved and I have found my flow again in martial arts. In a world full of promises Chris actually gets things done.”

“Chris is a magician! Having worked in an office environment for far too long, I used to constantly suffered from back ache, neck strain and general tension problems. Chris was able to relieve the pain in one or two sessions and took a holistic approach to lifestyle ensuring that I now rarely suffer from these ailments! Nowadays, I use Chris to sort out strains from training and the occasional niggling injury. He is by far the best remedial massage therapist I have every found!”

“Having trained in Wing Chun with Chris, I recommend him highly for his enthusiasm, skill and patience, which are all invaluable assets in a trainer/teacher.”
