CARE OF NEW TATTOO
A LOT OF STUDIOS WILL HAVE DIFFERENT METHODS, THIS IS MINE;
REMOVE BANDAGE AFTER ONE HOUR.
WASH TATTOO WELL WITH SOAP AND WATER TO REMOVE ANY DRIED BLOOD
CONTINUE WASHING TATTOO 2 TIMES A DAY TO KEEP IT CLEAN.
ALWAYS PAT IT DRY, DO NOT RUB.
I HAVE FOUND BEPANTHEN CREAM THE BEST TO APPLY AFTER WASHING THE TATTOO,
IT IS A GOOD ANTISEPTIC AND DRYS THE TATTOO OUT AND HELPS THEM TO HEAL FASTER.
DO NOT USE VASELINE OR ANY THING GREASY AS NEW TATTOOS NEED AIR TO GET TO THEM.
DO NOT PICK OR SCRATCH THE SCAB.
KEEP NEW TATTOO OUT OF DIRECT SUNLIGHT AND
AVOID SWIMMING TILL IT HEALS, (USUALLY A WEEK OR SO )
Does it hurts?
Hell, Yes!! But sensation for most people is quite bearable: mildly
aggravating, but if it was that bad, people wouldn’t keep coming
back for seconds, and thirds, etc. etc.
Can I get an anaesthetics?
In some cases, yes, but It’s not necessary, It’s not that bad. Don’t
be a Wimp.
How much does it cost?
A small tattoo starts at $100,+ G.S.T.- and prices go up from there
depending on intricacy and size.
Is it safe?
Yes, in a clean, professional studio, like ours, it’s safe. But if you’re
shopping around, do your homework and expect nothing less than
you would from a doctor!
What should I do before a tattoo, can I take some asprin?
Yes, but don’t forget that asprin, as well as alcohol, interfere with
the blood’s ability to clot. Also we won’t tattoo anyone who has
consumed alcohol or other mind-altering substance. It’s not a bad
idea to eat before coming in for a tattoo and drink a glass of
apple-juice one hour before you’re get a tattoo.
How old do you have to be to get a tattoo?
You must be eighteen years old!
Do I need an appointment?
No, we work by first in first served, But will take appointments
with a cash deposit.
I have an old tattoo I don’t like it anymore, what are my options?
You can have it covered up with something new and more
meaningful or relevant to your life. Or added to, brightened up,
etc.
Do you fix other artists’ work?
Not for free, but yes.
All styles are catered for including custom work to cover ups

Will the tattoo completely disappear?
Greater than 90% fading of the tattoo may be accomplished. However, it is important to know that there are many, many types of tattoo inks in use worldwide today,
none of which is regulated.
Not knowing which tattoo ink was used,
or how deeply it was applied, makes it impossible
for the physician to predict the degree of removal on
any given tattoo.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments required varies based on
a number of factors which include – amount of ink,
type of ink, depth of ink and your skin type.
Some tattoos take as few as four sessions to remove
and others can take as many as twenty.
Ten sessions is the average amount.
Home made tattoos, fine line work and sheer shading
contain the least amount of ink and usually prove
the easiest to remove requiring the least amount of
sessions through to tattoos containing filled in
areas (block ink) which if heavily inked can take
as many as fifteen to twenty sessions.
What can I expect after tattoo removal?
After the procedure the area may be red or swollen,
as if mildly sunburned, for five days to several weeks.
There may be some bruising, and with deeper tattoos
bleeding is not uncommon. Usually there will be pinpoint bleeding associated with the treatment. An antibacterial ointment (Bepanthen) and a dressing will be
applied to the area.
The treated area should be kept clean with
continued application of any ointment.
A shower can be taken but you must keep the skin
clean and dry for 3 days and the treated area should
not be scrubbed. Recovery times depend on the extent
of the treatment and the individual’s capacity to heal.
Redness, sensitivity or even blistering may continue
for several weeks, and there may be discoloration
and a change in skin texture in the area, which will
gradually improve.
You should avoid exposing the treated area to the
sun, as this may retard healing and hyper-pigmentation.
You may not notice significant results until several
treatments have been completed.
Most people are satisfied with the pigment removal
achieved through laser treatment.
It is important to remember,
however, that your skin will never look as
it did before you had the tattoo, even though
the tattooed pigment has been removed.
Does it hurt?
Yes,
a certain amount of discomfort is experienced.
The process is best described as having an
elastic band snapped on your skin.
Everybody’s ability to deal with pain varies,
so it is different for each individual.
We do offer topical anaesthetic which is
applied at least an hour beforehand to be effective.
(Remember this when booking treatments)
We also utilise a cold air chiller.
Blowing this cold air onto the treatment area before,
during and after a session significantly reduces
any discomfort. It is also worth noting that
treatments are fairly quick so any pain is shortlived.
Will I have a scar?
Most patients will not scar, however, scarring is a
possibility in any medical procedure involving the skin.
If you are predisposed to Keloids, or you scar easily,
your chances are higher.
Compliance with our aftercare instructions will
greatly reduce your chances of scarring.
Tattoo Laser Removal
Aftercare Instructions
The tattoo removal laser treatment may
create a superficial burn wound.
Some clients may experience bruising or swelling. There is immediate whitening of the treated area,
which usually lasts for several minutes. Many clients then develop blisters, crusts, or scabs
within 12-72 hours, which may last for
1-2 weeks or more.
The treated areas may be pink or pale after the
scab separates. Loss of skin pigment in the
treated area is common, and is usually temporary. Healing is usually complete by 6-8 weeks.
Keep the treated area clean and dry
while it is healing.
Clean the area gently with soap and water
and then gently pat the area dry.
You may apply a thin coating of antibiotic
ointment up to three times a day
while the area is healing if you keep the area covered with a sterile dressing.
You may apply cool compresses as necessary for
24 hours after the laser treatment to
help reduce discomfort and inflammation.
You may take plain Tylenol, but avoid aspirin
(it can increase the risk of bruising and/or bleeding.)
Do not pick at the scab or allow the skin to
become scraped, as this may result in infection
and scarring. Shaving should be avoided in
the treated area until it is completely healed.
Do not wear makeup or any cream or medication unless recommended by our office for 48 hours.
Wear a sun block with an SPF of 25 or higher over the area for 3 months following the treatment.
If the area looks infected (honey coloured
crusting and oozing or spreading redness),
if you experience an unusual discomfort or bleeding, if any other complications develop,
or if you have any questions or concerns,
contact the office immediately.
Of course, if you have any extreme reaction
(such as moderate to severe facial swelling,
moderate to severe rash, any difficulty breathing,
or you are in any distress)
call 000 and go to the emergency department.
We don’t provide quotes over the phone or email.
We treat all Colours.
